Churches planted this year 2024 and their report

  • Akotuakrom Congregation

Akotuakrom church is a new church, which is one of the churches planted this year 2024. This church is doing great in growth. Their enthusiasm, understanding, and love for the Lord keep increasing. Currently, their total number is fifteen (15). For this matter, we have assigned two (2) of our students, Jesus and Ahinkora, to Sunday and Wednesday meetings to help strengthen them. The Adoagyiri church has assigned Peter Abrokwa, one of our graduate students who completed in 2020, to take the role as an Evangelist.

·         Oklu Nkwanta church

This is one of the newly planted churches which report on their love for the church incredibly. Our student, Frank Nyarko, is the Evangelist in this church. Frank is working hard with the church in evangelism, visiting prospects who were left over. Currently, the number of old members is 14, restored members five (5), baptisms two (2), summing up to twenty-one (21).

·         Paanor Church

Paanor church near the school is also doing well. John Acquah one of the full-time students who just completed has been assigned to help the church. This church was one of the newly churches planted. Currently, their number is Four (4). We thank God for this as most of the township lives in cohabitation. We are organizing a follow-up campaign to keep educating them.

  • New Students:

o   Our new system of admission is helping to obtain more students. Currently, our target to visit churches this quarter is ongoing. Places to visit are Suhum churches and Adeiso churches.

o   Sammy and Amoo-Gyimah have taken the responsibility to embark on these visits.

School Building

  • The State of the Building Project:

    • The current state of the school project is that the screading of the floor, plastering of rooms, security door, buggler proof, for the windows, and plumbing works are done.

    • The next fixtures needed for us to move in are glass windows, electrical appliances and plumbing fixtures, solar or electric power, tiling, painting, and others

Radio Programme

E.O Larbi and Silas Agyei have been preaching on Top Radio 103.1 and the listening of the audience has been steadfast, increasing each week. We had ten (10) persons phone-in to congratulate and ask for further studies. We were able to visit only two in the first week. We did further visitation on three families to settle their marriage problems; There are promises from some listeners to search and visit the church in their various areas in Accra. For a lack of funds, we were unable to visit most of our Callers who requested us to visit their homes for studies. We pray for increased health and finance for our donors and sponsors, especially Steven and all who pray for this program. There has been a request for baptism and wish to help them in next week's programme. So far the program is serving as an opportunity for the advertisement of both the school and the church.

We are thankful for the unwavering support from our community, partners, and friends. Your prayers and contributions are instrumental in our mission. May the Lord continue to guide and bless our efforts.

Updates from Ukraine

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I want to share the news from June and July with you.

Currently, Ukraine is experiencing intense heat. Unfortunately, due to significant shelling from the Russian Federation, our energy system is almost non-functional. As a result, people cannot use air conditioners or refrigerators, as power outages last for 15-20 hours a day. This has led to a complete collapse and destruction of the country's economy.

According to recent changes in the law, all men must register for military service. If you fail to register by July 16th, the government imposes a fine of approximately 20,000 UAH, which is about 500 USD. After this, registration is mandatory. Failure to comply will result in continuous fines or forced conscription to the military commissariat, leading to further problems.

There is also good news. Last month, two wonderful camps organized by Americrane took place, one in Warsaw and the other in Lviv. Thanks to Jeff Abrams' team for organizing this spiritual retreat. Many people from all over Europe gathered in Warsaw. My family and I also attended this wonderful event. The following week, the camp took place in Lviv, Ukraine. This was a significant event for the Ukrainian church. Please pray for such events as they greatly strengthen and encourage us spiritually.

Regarding the work of the Bible Institute, we have found three new students this year who will join the program: two men and one woman. They have submitted all necessary documents and are eagerly awaiting the start of the academic year. One of the students, named Viktor, has a deferral from the military commissariat, so we do not expect any surprises regarding his mobilization. However, there are issues with the second student, Nikolai, from Poltava. He will turn 25 in a few months, and in Ukraine, men are officially drafted into the army at the age of 25. We hope he will also receive a deferral. He has two children and a wonderful wife, but it seems that the chances are slim. To receive a deferral, one must have three children or a first-degree disability. Please pray for Nikolai and the resolution of this situation.

This year, we will start our classes in September. Vadim and Maxim will remain in the program, so we expect five students in the next academic year.

I also want to extend my heartfelt thanks to our partners and churches who work alongside BVBIU: the Church of Chernivtsi, the Church of Bila Tserkva, and the churches in Poltava, Kramatorsk, and other cities. They are doing fantastic humanitarian work, providing many people with both spiritual words and physical food every day.

Additionally, this year we are adding some new members to our teaching staff, including students pursuing their master's degrees. Currently, we have six students in the master's program. This year, I hope Oleg Fafanov and Alexander Rotkevich will join us. They are still young and inexperienced but have great potential. Oleg Fafanov is currently preaching in Uzhhorod, previously in Kostiantynivka, and Alexander Rotkevich is a youth minister in Chernivtsi. These brothers serve diligently in Ukraine, and it is truly an honor for them.

Thank you for your prayers and financial support for the institute. We continuously ask for your prayers for peace in our country.

With respect and love,

Your brother in Christ,

Denis Sopelnik

Successful Report from Sabo Oniba/Lagos Island Centers

SABO ONIBA/LAGOS ISLAND CENTERS REPORT: April to June 2024

INTRODUCTION

Rom 13: 5: “Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience.” This is one of the Bible passages that becomes very challenging to obey when one sees that the leaders are corrupt therefore not doing their duty. Nigeria is now a practical case study in this area. However, we thank God in the midst of all these, his children are navigating through it. We are also grateful to the sponsors of our school project and other mission work going on here in Lagos and other places. We are raising an army for the Lord; some are under training while others have become team members in the fieldwork.

 BEAR VALLEY WORK

The divine responsibility to train faithful men who will in turn train others continues in our two centers here in Lagos. The Book Of James which is about the principles of Christian Growth and Maturity was handled by Tim Iwe. Hermeneutics 1 was taught by Akanimoh Archbong and Oluwafemi Adewuyi showed the students the nature and identities of the New Testament Church in Lagos Island center. Sabo Oniba welcomed two new students in the last quarter. In their classwork, Suleiman Yusuf spent time on NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH – 2 (WORSHIP). Israel Tajomavwo from Ikorodu Center led the class on CHURCH HISTORY while Gbenga Ilori from Agege Center took the class on CHRISTIAN HOME.

Behold Our Student

Paul Benjamin Orji: Bro Paul is from Umuneochi, Mbala in Abia state. He obeyed the gospel in 1993 and is doing his private business in Alaba International market here in Lagos. Paul is married with children. He is a member of Sabo Oniba congregation where he has been assisting the Minster who was his mentor. Bro Paul took over the ministerial work as the preacher from the retired minister. He has been a visiting worker and teacher to many young congregations in his area. We are happy to have him as one of our students in the Sabo Study Center.

CAMPAIGNS/EVANGELISM

Within this quarter, we held our strategic physical meeting/planning, visited six high schools for enrollments, carried out market evangelism, and were able to plant a congregation in Ogolonto, Ikorodu Lagos.

WBS ENROLLMENT/BAPTISM

From our outings, we have enrolled 215 prospects for the WBS evangelism program of which nine (9) lessons have been returned to us and given to the students. We recorded 5 baptisms from the team this quarter and we have more than 300 prospects for follow-up. This quarter also, offered me the opportunity to train 8 preachers from Enugu town, and 5 in Lagos on how to be an Online WBS Study Helper. I will be going to Owerri this July ending and Abuja in the first week of August for the same purpose. Thanks to Bro Chad for supporting this training with the transport fair.

APPRECIATION

We, at the Instructing crew of BV Schools highly appreciate the efforts of the Management of BV, especially Bro. Keith Kasarjian and Bro. Chad Wagner. They are always on hand to sponsor, render advice, correction, and other forms of help that assist the program to run smoothly. We also appreciate the efforts and sacrifices of our sponsors. We pray that God Almighty should continue to bless all of you, and may God continue to give the management more wisdom to continue to direct the programs at their right paths.

CONCLUSION

We hope to keep up with our work here and even improve our campaigns and enrollments God willing. We are once again thanking you for your partnership.

Thanks and God bless you all.

Graduation of Bear Valley Sunyani Campus (Ghana)

A memorable graduation was held in Sunyani the regional capital of Bono region of Ghana, on the 28th of July 2024 for Bear Valley students. All nine students graduated. Among them is Dr Ebenezer Arthur-Quansah a Senior Medical Officer who works at Sunyani Teaching Hospital.

The program was in two parts.

Worship and graduation

During the worship, Bible class and sermon were merged. Evg. Silas Boadu, a lecturer at Ghana Bible College in Kumasi, was the guest speaker. He spoke on the theme "Challenges facing the 21st century Preachers."

He further advised the graduates not to focus on self benefits but rather fight against wrongdoing in the system. Again he challenged them to use social media networks to propagate the gospel, Lord's supper,  giving, prayers, and songs were done to make the service complete.

The second part is the graduation continued. Bro Kwasi Kankam Boadu, an Esq, moderated the program.

Congregational songs were sung, I Rexford Agyare Mintah ( Coordinator for Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo regions) gave the welcome address, and after the address the Moderator introduced the chairman for the occasion in the person of Dr Philemon Mbilla a Senior Medical Officer, who is also a brother in the Lord, he gave his acceptance as chair.

The National Coordinator of Bear Valley Ghana, bro Kojo Acquah Beenyi, who was the Guest of Honour also elaborated the efforts of Bear Valley in Ghana in terms of Preache’s training, gospel campaigns, and church planting, just to mention a few. He officially introduced me as assistant National Coordinator responsible for the three Brong Ahafo regions. He concluded by commending Bear Valley International for supporting the work in Ghana and beyond.

The Director of Sunyani campus Bro Daniel Kyereh-Mensah gave his address, in which he thanked the Lord for how far He has brought the school. Close to Fifty Preachers has been trained and working for the Lord's church. He further thanked Bear Valley for the overwhelming support. Followed by the graduating class president in the person of Dr Ebenezer Arthur-Quansah, he also thanked the management/instructors of the college for their dedication, and in humility preparing them for the four years of training.

An ordination ceremony followed where all the graduates kneeled down for preachers and other leaders prayed for them.

Finally, awards and citations were given to students and other dignitaries, including Bro Kojo Acquah Beenyi for his instrumental role in the Ghana campus.

More than twenty congregations and their representatives, chiefs, families, and friends graced the occasion.

Thank you

By Rexford Agyare Mintah ( Bear Valley Coordinator for Brong Ahafo regions)

Taking the gospel door-to-door in Chad

Moundou, Chad

August Report

Here is another opportunity to give you some information about the life of our Bible school. Before all things, receive our sincere greetings in the precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. May the peace of God the Father, and the grace of Jesus Christ the Son, be abundantly given to you from Jesus Christ!

Concerning evangelism, since the return of the students on July 30, we have worked by going door to door every Saturday, but recently, into the neighborhoods a little deeper. We also organized a large Alumni campaign for three days, including Sunday, in Doba. Doba is a province located more than 100 km from Moundou. It was disheartening that we did not have any baptisms in Doba, however, we managed to organize a place of worship which will allow an evangelist living in this locality, to worship with some people to whom we preached the gospel. We hope for possible baptisms, given that we word was sown and the evangelist will be watering. We pray for this assembly in Doba, because Doba is a large city located between three other large cities.

Regarding studies at the Center, we glorify God for his grace. The courses are taking place without major difficulties. Because of the time given to students in the month of June for their rural activities, we will go on vacation this time with a slight delay. They will leave on vacation after two more weeks of study, that is to say, after August 15. We continue to pray for a happy end to the seventh quarter.

October graduation planned in Gweru, Zimbabwe

JULY 2024 NARRATIVE REPORT

Introduction

The school continued to uphold its mission of preparing students for effective Christian ministry through academic rigor, spiritual formation, and practical training. This report summarizes key activities and accomplishments during the month.

1. End of Term Examinations

We recently concluded our end-of-term examinations, and we are pleased to report that most of our students performed admirably, and we are proud of their efforts. There is greater room for improvement to some who are not yet at their best. Their hard work and dedication to their studies have been evident, and we are proud of their accomplishments. The results reflect their deepening understanding of scripture and practical ministry skills, preparing them for future service in their communities. Exams covered various subjects, namely: Personal Evangelism, Life of Christ, Scheme of Redemption, Christian Evidences, Pentateuch, How we got the Bible, New Testament Church, and Public Speaking. Classes will resume on the 8th of September.

2. Students on Internship

Our students on internship have continued their impactful evangelism work, resulting in additional baptisms this month. A total of their enthusiasm and compassion have not only brought new believers into the fold but have also strengthened their own faith and ministry skills. Their commitment to sharing the Gospel is a testament to the training they have received and the transformation occurring in their lives. Some students are moving from their current station to another. 18 conversions were made in the month.

3. Projects

3.1  Greenhouse

In addition to academic and outreach activities, our school gardening project has seen remarkable progress this month. After removing the tomatoes in the greenhouse, we planted a new crop, cabbages. We look forward to harvest it at the end of August to early September. Our gardening project remains a source of pride and learning for our students. This initiative not only teaches sustainability, self-sufficiency, and teamwork but also enhances the sense of community among students as they work together for a common goal.

4. UPCOMING EVENTS

4.1  PREACHERS’ RETREAT

From the 16th to the 18th of October Bear Valley Bible Institute-Zimbabwe shall host its annual Preacher’s Retreat under the theme “TAKING PLEASURE IN SELF DEVELOPMENT” from Proverbs 12.17. A number of topics are lined up with the objective of inculcating self-development skills and attributes in preachers. The fee shall be $15 per person.

4.2 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING AND GRADUATION

A graduation ceremony shall take place on the 19th of October from 9.30am on campus. This event is open to all.

Conclusion

Overall, this month has been productive and successful for the school. We celebrate our students' academic successes, the fruit of their evangelism efforts, and the progress of our gardening initiative. As we continue to nurture the next generation of leaders in ministry, we are grateful for your support and prayers that empower us to fulfill our mission. We look forward to what the next term will bring as we continue to grow and serve.

Graduation draws near in Luanshya, Zambia

Introduction

“I must work the works of him who sent me while it is day, for the night cometh when no man can work” (John 9:4) said our Master. We give honor and glory to God who has given us this rare opportunity to work in His Kingdom as we send Warm greetings to you all brothers and sisters.

This is a good time to report what is happening at BVBI-Zambia during the month of July, 2024.

Moving steadily to the “finishing-line”

It is great to see that in the next couple of months, our students will finally complete their two years of study here at Bear Valley Bible Institute Zambia.

They are really excited to finish and eager to go back to their congregations and preach. In the past thirty two days our lives at BVBI- Zambia has greatly impacted the church on the Copperbelt province positively. Indeed our relationship with members of the Lord’s church here on the Copperbelt has greatly matured in the Lord and we expect a great turn out for our graduation this year.

Vital Signs (Restorations)

We have been evangelizing in six districts on the Copperbelt province namely Mufulira, Chingola , Kitwe, Ndola , Luanshya and Mpongwe.  And our labor in the Lord has produced good results.  Firstly we have witnessed the restoration of twenty two members which has been a great encouragement to the body of Christ here in Zambia.

All the weekends and midweek services have been used to deepen our interactions with members of the Lord’s church and communities at large. We have experienced how important and necessary Bible studies are needed. People have a desire to know God’s word better and they have kept us in touch with them. Indeed for us to be a strong family we need to be spending time together.

Baptisms

We have recorded seven additions to the body of Christ through Baptisms. Evaryn ndjovu, chinyama Phillip, Dominic Bwalya, James Loti, Mary Mundenda,Jane Kaonga and Naomi Mulenga.  We pray that these souls walk with Jesus forever. They are wonderful additions to the family of God.

Recruitment of new students in high-gear.

Recruitment is going on well and so far we have twenty prospective of which we only need to choose fifteen for our new intake of 2025-26. We believe 2025 intake will be very balanced. We expected some to come as far as Angola and D.R. Congo but we failed to travel to interview them in their respective countries due to limited funds.

We expect the new intake to begin classes after the current student body’s graduation in October this year.

The effect of drought in Zambia

There is severe effect of drought caused by EL Nino in all the Provinces of Zambia. And as a result we are experiencing a High cost of pricing in all commodities. Our head of State is asking for immediate help from the international community in order to mitigate the devastating effects of the drought which has destroyed nearly half of the country’s corn crop, living millions in need of food aid.

In order to effectively implement life saving and sustaining skills for our students, we are involved in vegetable growing. And, our students were taught on growing soya-beans and other requirements in order to have the good production and healthy appearance of soya-beans. We had a good Harvest for 2024 and we need to do more as students graduate this year to begin their new life. We hereby appeal to you our partners to support our plan financially and materially in mitigating the devastating effects of the drought.

Updates on our Alumni

We have news from our former students working in different provinces here in Zambia; some have gone as far as Eastern, Northern, North-western and Luapula province of Zambia. We have Simon Nkhazi who to Eastern province and had stayed for seven days preaching, though no baptisms where recorded we only recorded the increase in attendance. Simon is in his second year studying registered medicine in Lusaka.

Boyd Kalaba working on the copper-belt at our newly established Church, is doing a great work for the month of July we have seen the increase in attendance from 20 -27 to 30-55 just within a month. Gershom Chansa now studying as a male Nurse has continued to show his dedication for the Church in Southern province Kalomo we have recorded five baptisms and eleven restorations from him. Nicholas Mulubwa and Reuben Museka working as small scale farmers have continued to do well in the ministry. We have recorded seventeen restorations for the past two months from Nicholas and one baptism from Reuben in Northern and Luapula respectively.

We also have another hard working preacher from southern province now residing in Lusaka at our newly established congregation Aclay Kabbaya. Aclay has set multiple home Bible studies and has continued to preach, we continue to pray that Aclay’s work may bear more fruit.

Conclusion

Thank you kindly to all who have helped in any way to prepare these men for the deep and meaningful task of preaching the Gospel. Special thanks go to Woodland Oaks Church of Christ for their continued financial support, Bear Valley Bible Institute International, Instructors, Donnie our Country Coordinator and indeed everyone involved in this work.

Thank you all once again!

Brotherly,

Cephas and Fred

Many conversions in Sierra Leone

ACTIVITY OPERATION REPORT FOR JULY, 2024

Full Time and the Extended Programs

INTRODUCTION

We are at that time of the year where it rains almost every time in Sierra Leone, yet our work of reconciling men to Christ and the training of men to be actively engaged in this work never ceases. In July 2024, we resumed our classes and souls were converted. We received more than 300 cartons of evangelistic tracts from Mission printing. We had the Assistant International Director; Brother Mark Reynolds visit us and taught a class. Our Director, Peter Makundu,, who is also assisting our Regional Coordinator, Brother Steve to coordinate other schools in Liberia and Guinea, visited and held a meeting with the Gueckedou, Guinea administration. For more information on the highlights above, we encourage you to keep on reading as we guide you through under the following heading:

RESUMPTION OF CLASSES AND STUDENTS UPDATE

You were informed in our June report that our full time students were sent on break till July 1, 2024. Therefore, by July 1, all of them except one resumed classes. Currently, we have thirteen (13) students in our full time program.  Moreover, our part time students, who went on a week break, also resumed their classes. In our full time program, we have eleven (11) students currently.

CONVERSIONS RESULTING FROM STUDENTS’ AND STAFF WEEKEND EVANGELISM

As the school exists to train evangelists, every member of our family is focused on bringing men to Christ. That is why every week after classes from Mondays to early Fridays, at the evening of Fridays to Sundays, we get involved in evangelism. There is a schedule prepared for this activity and it is truly helping to bring people to Christ, strengthen some weak congregations, and nurture some new ones. Therefore, before July ended, four (4) souls became saved.

CONVERSIONS RESULTING FROM ALUMNI EFFORT

Our graduates are also very busy on the field in carrying out the great commission. They are involved in carrying out the Lord’s mandate in their various localities. So as a result, five (5) souls were converted.

CONVERSIONS RESULTING FROM THE EVANGELISTIC TEAMS EFFORTS

You are already aware of the active works of the evangelistic teams across the country. Therefore, their efforts resulted to Fourteen (14) conversions. Apart from those being saved, the teams kept on strengthening and nurturing the various congregations that they are in touch with.

GRATITUDE FOR EVANGELISTIC TRACTS AND PREACHERS’ BOXES

We are always appreciative of what you are doing for the Lord in Sierra Leone through your support, prayers, and guidance. Just like May 2023, in July 2024, we received three hundred and sixty cartons of Evangelistic Tracts and 40 Preachers’ Boxes, from Mission Printing. Those materials will greatly aid our evangelistic efforts and the school administration; we will share the materials with other preachers and congregations who are zealously promoting evangelism in this country. We are happily saying a big thank you to you all. Thank you for all the funds you sent to get those materials to us. Our students and evangelistic teams have gotten more tracts for field work. We are grateful to Brother Richard Renfro.

BOTHER MARK REYNOLDS VISITS US FOR THE FIRST TIME

The first time that I heard Brother Reynolds name was in October, 2021 when I had just joined the Bear Valley family. During that time, our coordinator, Steve Ashcraft and I were discussing the possibility of inviting our brother for our graduation lectureship. But the Lord delayed his coming until July 16, this year when our dear brother touched down the Lungi Airport and visited us. Just like Brothers Keith and Steve, what a lovely, committed and a hard working brother to be around! His coming was very impactful and rewarding. During his visit, he taught our full time students, How We Got the Bible; he also had a class with our part time students on Marriage and Family Life. Brother Mark’s thorough knowledge of the Bible made those courses look simple and easier, and yet in a real sense they can be difficult courses. Our students (and staff together) learned a lot from our brother. After his time in the classroom, Brother Mark held a very successful meeting with the staff. After that again, he taught a lesson at the leaders and preachers lectureship that was organized for the congregations at the country capital, Freetown. He taught, “Understanding the Difference between Doctrine and Opinion.” You could see how our brother was so busy during the 9 days that he spent with us! Well, we desired that he spent more time with us to impact us the more, but the work demands that he left behind in the USA encouraged us to bid farewell to him.  Brother Mark brought a good number of eye glasses for our brethren who have some eye problems. We acknowledge his generosity and the God Lord will bless him. All those who donated those glasses to us are duly appreciated. We had a great fellowship indeed. We appreciate his coming and we are hopeful that he keeps on visiting us.

CONCLUSION

We are hoping that the Lord will grant us another opportunity to be alive to read the August report again. Till then, may the Lord keep us and be with us all!

Director,

Sierra Leone Bear Valley Bible Institute

West Coast students preach the word

WEST COAST SCHOOL OF PREACHING OPERATIONAL REPORT JUNE 2024

1.     CLASSROOM WORK

On 7nd June, we had the first of the two termly fasting and prayers sections. Studies continued uninterrupted for the full-time students in the month of June. We are very happy to inform you that we have enrolled three new students – two as full-time students and one as a part- time student.

New courses were started for the part-time students in the month. These courses were: the Biblical doctrine of Godhead, the book of Revelation and Biblical counselling. The courses are taught by Joshua Aidoo, Nathaniel Brobbey and Samuel Owusu-Afari.

 2.     PERSONAL EVANGELISM AND BAPTISM

The Lord’s work in the area of evangelism is still going on. Our current and past students continue to preach the word of God through social and traditional media. Two of our instructors were invited to speak on two different facebook platforms. Douglas Armah was invited by one of our immediate past students to speak on the issue of amenability of sinners to the law of Christ and Joshua Aidoo also spoke on the topic – a letter to the 8th church (as in reference to what would Jesus tell His church in the 21st century if he was to write a letter to us). The school continues to preach the undiluted gospel on one of the nation’s television stations (Truth TV) which is watched by thousands of homes both believers and unbelievers. In response to that, we receive a lot of phone calls during the week, especially, from those not members of the church to ask questions about what we preach on the television. This program is aired on Saturday morning and repeated on Tuesday evening.

Personal evangelisms were also done by our students. And about five (5) souls were won for Christ.

3.     PURCHASE OF SCHOOL VAN

The school vehicle successfully landed on campus in the month. There was excitement on campus that day. The joy of the staff and students could not be contained.

Prayers were said to thank God for the successful arrival and future use of the car and also for our sponsors.

Thank you for your support.

Joshua.

Alumni campaign in Cameroon

Dearest in Christ,

Greetings from Cameroon. We hope this report finds you in good health. Our God is good! He is good all the time! The students from the Bear Valley Bible Institute are out on mission work this weekend. The staff and graduates of the Bear Valley schools in Cameroon, through the alumni association, were to converge in a young congregation in the city of Douala called Ngodi Bakoko. This is where one of our graduates, Njume Kelvin, is serving as the preacher. He is also a teacher in some of the circular schools there. As I now write this report, we have all returned home to our different locations safe and sound.

The mission started in Wotutu as some of our graduates were around to collect Mission Printing Bible tracts. 25 specific boxes of tracts were selected, before we all headed off to Ngodi Bakoko Douala for their quarterly alumni evangelistic meeting. Our alumni are still very connected to the work of the school as some have visited and encouraged the current students during chapel. Several of our graduates are also around during missionary visits as they come around to be of help in the work.

The Bear Valley school started in Wotutu under the name of Cameroon Bible Institute. The name was later changed to Bear Valley Bible Institute Cameroon – Wotutu. The school started in 2011 and we graduated our first batch in 2012. As of now, we have graduated 142. During the evangelistic meeting that just ended, of which I was a part, there were 65 out of the 142 graduates present. We have lost some of them naturally by death, some were busy with other commitments, and some could not make it because in these hard times, some cannot afford transportation to the location. Please keep our graduates in your prayers as they go through many challenges to keep up in their ministries.

Plans

We have agreed for the first ever convention, for all of our graduates, to meet in Wotutu for a two-day lectureship in the month of November.

There will be another alumni evangelistic meeting in Tombel in October. Meetings like this are very good, as they give us ample opportunity to evaluate, encourage and motivate our graduates, as they remain steadfast in the ministry of Christ.

 Appreciations

Thank you very much for your love for the work here. Your prayers and your support are greatly appreciated. God is watching, and will reward in due season. Please do your best to share this report with others.

Make a great day.

Elangwe and family

STATE OF THINGS IN OUR COUNTRY-NIGERIA

Across our country-Nigeria, the cost of essential commodities such like rice, beans, Garri and Cassava flour has surged significantly, triggering widespread protests and incidents of looting as citizens grapple with the escalating cost of living. The unexpected rise in food prices has led to public agitation with people in various regions calling for increase in the minimum wage to manage the financial burden.

Recent occurrences indicate a growing sense of desperation among the populace, with some resorting to hijacking trucks loaded with foodstuffs and raiding warehouses to seize supplies.

The wave of looting underscores the acute distress faced by many Nigerians as food affordability countries to plummet.

The dramatic increase in the prices of common foods, emphasizing the economic hardship imposed on average citizens.

The present situation has raised alarm among policy makers, social activities and economists who are concerned about the potential long-term impacts of these price hikes of food security and social stability in the country. In fact, the policy of the new Nigeria government is not favorable to the masses at-all! May God sake our country.

The hardship also affect the numerical growth of the church as well as our weekly collection.

CONCLUSION

We deeply appreciate you all for your great commitment to World Evangelism. May the Lord keep on blessing all our work together in Christ Jesus name. Amen.

Sincerely His & Yours,

Makinde Ebens

The Chief Servant of BVBIN & SWSE-Ibadan and WBSFUW

Great results in Togo

OPERATING  REPORT  BEAR  VALLEY  INSTITUTE  KARA – TOGO (Second quarter 2024)

EXTENDED  PROGRAM ; BVBI – KARA – TOGO

July 11, 2024

INTRODUCTION

Greetings from the north of Togo. All churches of Christ greet you. We appreciate all the efforts you are making to achieve the objectives of the great missions in the world in general and in the north of Togo in particular. This Bible training School helps us all to fight to achieve the objectives of this Great Mission through the training of the brothers of the church. The harvest is great but there are few workers.  These trained brothers will be useful for the harvest. We continue to pray that God will keep you in good health and that he will continue to grant you more wisdom in the mission.

OPERATING  REPORT

1-   The number of students : 09

2-   The courses already taught the first quarter :

a-   Jeremiah and Lamentation : by KPELEVI David

b-   Job and Psalms : by TALAKI Nicodeme

c-    2nd Corinthians : by BEDJELSI  Fidele

3-   The courses that will be thought during the third quarter 2024 :

a-   Ezra to Esther : TALAKI  Nicodeme

b-   Christian evidence : by KPELEVI  David

c-    Church history : by BEDJELSI  Fidele

4-   Instructors’ meeting :

Each of the teachers is determined to motivate each student right to the end, because these students will also help in the work of converting souls for CHRIST. These students are becoming increasingly aware of the work involved and are making commendable efforts. These new Instructors are highly motivated and committed to their work and motivated to bring the vision to fruition because this Bible School is an opportunity to help expand the Kingdom of the Lord. So we’re determined to defy all opposition in northern Togo.

5-   Congregational Activities :

With the arrival of these two local evangelists, we have built up a solid team of three evangelists who are fighting hard to lay the foundations of the church in the north, despite the jealousies that are always raised against us in the direction of this Bible School and the work we do in the villages. Apart from this internal problem of jealousy due to the sponsorship problem, we also encounter the problem of doctrine with the denominations . But we salute the efforts of all concerned for the work accomplished during this quarter.  The team made up of these three evangelists travels the villages every week without rest either to meet and discuss with denominational churches or door-to-door to support digitally local churches already planted or for public evangelistic campaigns.   The results of this work are very encouraging :

-        We were able to convert  and baptize 11 members of the Embassies of Christ Church in Lassa Lao. This church has now become the Church of Christ ,

-        In Soumdina Powayi, we were able to baptize 1 person during our public evangelization campaign,

-        In Soumdina Pida, we baptized 8 people during our public evangelization campaign,

-        In Lassa Ahodo, 2 people were baptized during our public gospel campaign,

-        At Kara-University, 1 person was baptized in a door-to-door evangelistic campaign. In all, 27 people were baptized this quarter.

a-   Worship and edification :

With the students, we form teams to help with teaching on Wednesdays and worship on Sundays at each local church. This organization is helping in the spiritual growth of local churches. Specific teachings are designed to respond to the problems of each locality. We share and discuss problems encountered in our teachings during our meetings. And each local church has effective leadership to help the church.

b-   Door-to-door evangelism :

In addition to evangelistic and edification campaigns, we organize door-to-door evangelism according to a well defined schedule. During this door-to-door evangelism we use church members to help. With this organization, we have baptized 04 people in Lama and 01 people in Kara University.

c-    Seminars :

We organized 3 seminars and a conference with the denominations :

-        The Women Leaders seminar was organized around the general topic : « The qualifications of the woman Leader for a church on the way to heaven. »

-        The Men’s seminar was organized around the general topic : « The qualifications a man of the church must have to push the church towards heaven. »

-        The Women’s seminar revolved around the general topic :« The imperatives of the woman of Christ’s Church in the face of denominations. »

-        The conference with the denominations focused on the general theme :  « The search for Truth. »

Participants in these seminars and conferences are very satisfied with the biblical teachings they receive. Interestingly, a few weeks after the conference with the denominations, we baptized 11 members of the denominations. We implore everyone to pray for these new converts

d-   Read and speak kabiye program :

This program has been designed to help brothers better master the local language and assist effectively during worship. This mastery of the local language can help brothers to help local churches in the absence of evangelists, who are in very short supply in the north. This may help evangelists to consider planting other churches.

e-   Denominational Program :

This program helps us to get in touch with denominations and bring them together for the study of biblical truths. We have developed this program here in 3 localities : Atchangbade ; Soumdina Pida and at the Bible School (IBBV) in Kara. These are the groups of denominations that we have brought together in a Bible conference. A few weeks later, we baptized 11 people. This program requires extensive biblical knowledge to be able to convince denominations biblically.

6-   Radio Program :

Radio is a powerful medium for spreading the gospel. Many listen but react little. We were able to baptize a listener who encourages us at every program on the Radio and with whom we have continued our Bible studies. He was finally baptized. We salute those who support us in this program and pray that Gopel will bless them abundantly. We also need your prayers for this program.

Upcoming  Program

-        July 2024 :  Evangelists seminar

-        August 2024 :-  Children  seminar

-        September 2024 :  Women and Men seminar

-        Speak and Read Kabiye Program

-        Denominational Program

In Christ,

Fidele.

New students arrive in Visakhapatnam, India

Dear Brethren in Christ,

Greetings to you in the precious name of the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior. I Hope this email finds you all good. By the grace of God we are all doing good. We thank you so much for your prayers.

We are blessed to be able to start a new batch of preaching students at Visakha Valley Bible College. After the summer break, slowly new students have been enrolled. Currently, we have  13 students enrolled. We are expecting to have 4 more students by the end of this month and are so excited to see the students being enrolled in the school even with difficulties both socially and religiously. We are thankful.

We had our faculty meeting to discuss the beginning of the new academic year, how to go about with the new students etc.,  We are thankful to have a new teacher who is none other than Raju Babu who has been our student 6 years ago. He successfully completed the two year course and gained experience as a preacher and now he will be used to teach in the School. We are proud of him. You can see Raju babu in the group picture, he is wearing a maroon color Shirt.

Our services in the society are being extended: We are grateful for the opportunities that come our way to meet the society with our activities. Our Tailoring Institute is a great blessing, helping us to be known and respected, because every 3 months 15-20 women are being trained in sewing education. Of course our students get the same opportunity. Recently our facility has been used to conduct Blood donation program by Rotary International. We are blessed to be part of this work., Our faculty along with some students donated their blood to help those who are in life struggle. As it was mentioned in Gal 6:10 always making use of the opportunity that's coming in our way to serve our brethren as well as the community around  to show that we care, thankful to God for this opportunity.

Our school has become a place providing education, doing social service and also a hub for Christian brotherhood. We welcome several preachers in the city to attend special classes and also they come for discussing with our teachers about some doctrinal matters. During this situation we are able to provide some useful literature, that is great material we receive from World Evangelism. We are so thankful to Jerry and Paula Bates for keeping us in the list. We receive regularly and share it with our preachers and preachers who visit our school. We are thankful that we are able to spread out the good news through this channel.

We are so much thankful to all the brethren at Lake Houston, Farmersville and Strickland for their charity. At the same time we are not ignorant of Bates for their continued support and encouragement. At this time I would like to take a moment to appreciate the Elders at Strickland for considering to help the Graduates with New Bicycles. They are so happy and using them in the ministry. We are so much thankful for your kindness in helping so. God bless you all.

Our note of thanks to Brother Mark Reynolds, who is the coordinator of our Bear Valley School International and Director brother Keith Kasarjian for their great leadership and encouragement. Our thanks must be extended to the Elders of Bear Valley Church of Christ too for their great desire and commitment in producing wonderful preachers in over 60 nations across the world. Our Lord is so proud of you all. You are truly doing the very best in fulfilling the Great Commission given by our Lord.

Best wishes to you all from our Staff, Students and Faculty of Visakha Valley Bible College.  By the way, I am getting ready to come to USA in the first week of August and will be visiting all the supporting congregations, l am looking forward to seeing and talking to you.

God Bless you all.

In Christ,

Successful Second Quarter and Evangelism Efforts in Accra-East, Ghana

Bear Valley Bible Institute - Accra East

Second Quarter Report - 2024

Courses covered

The second quarter commenced on April 2nd, 2024, the first Friday of April, and concluded on June 29th, 2024, the last Saturday of June. During this quarter, the school successfully completed three courses:

  • The books of 1 & 2 Thessalonians

  • 1 & 2 Timothy, and Titus

  • Denominational doctrines

Report on the Students

The students' performance was highly commendable throughout this 2nd quarter. They demonstrated exceptional commitment by attending classes punctually and regularly. Moreover, they actively participated in class tests and discussions. The average attendance for this quarter was nine (9) students.

In April, all students participated in the Bear Valley Bible Institute graduation ceremony held at Serpeman Church of Christ auditorium on April 20th. The program was lively, and the speakers' presentations were inspiring. It was encouraging to see so much joy on the faces of the students.

House to House Evangelism

House-to-house evangelism continues in three communities: Gomoa Asebu, Santor, and Awutu Breku Twiime. These communities have congregations needing urgent attention, particularly Gomoa Asebu and Santor, where ministers are currently absent. I oversee these congregations along with Nmai Djorn, the mother church. Students are assigned to these congregations on a rotating basis, visiting every Sunday. They take the opportunity to engage in house-to-house evangelism after worship. During this period, we witnessed three baptisms: one in Gomoa Asebu, another in Awutu Breku Twiime, and one at Boi Church of Christ. At Boi Church, our student John Achie Quophy serves as a part-time preacher in the congregation

Report on Awutu Breku Twiime Church

The students continue their visits to Awutu Breku Twiime Church of Christ this quarter. Established on September 24, 2023, through the Bear Valley Church Planting Program by Accra East, the church experienced one baptism during this period, maintaining an average attendance of 25 members. Accra East students continue to rotate their visits to the church every Sunday. On Sunday, June 30th, 2024, all students went to Awutu Breku and Asebu to assist with worship and evangelism.

Church Planting Program 2024

This year's church planting program is set for Achansa-Abobiri in the Eastern Region, a small cocoa farming village. Initially planned for April 26th-28th, 2024, the campaign and inauguration were postponed due to the passing of one of the community elders and subsequent seasonal rains. The new dates are now scheduled for July 27th-28th, 2024. We remain hopeful and pray for the successful establishment of the Church of Christ in this community.

Pending Lectureship

The school, in collaboration with Nmai Djorn Church of Christ, has scheduled a lectureship for the 1st Sunday in September this year. The event is planned for a Sunday to maximize participation. After discussions with the students over the past month and a half, the final date is confirmed for September 1st. For this year's lectureship, we intend to invite speakers from Bear Valley Bible Institute whom we trust to effectively address the chosen topic

The chosen topics for the lectureship are:

  1. How to Safeguard Biblical Truth in a Changing World

  2. Principles of Hermeneutics and Interpretation: (Foundational rules and guidelines for interpreting and understanding biblical texts)

  3. The Role of Scripture in Today's Culture

Thank you,

Peter Arhinful-Quansah

Bible School Updates in Cebu, Phillippines

Bear Valley Bible Institute — Cebu, Philippines — 2024 1 st Half Report

In-Depth Biblical Courses in 2024

The school in Cebu has entered another year of learning and we are blessed to have Keith Kasarjian (Director of International Studies) and Mark Reynolds (Assistant Director of International Studies) mentoring our students and teaching the Bible in-depth. In January, Keith Kasarjian taught the book of Romans and the students had a great time studying this book, especially from brother Kasarjian, who did a wonderful job explaining this epistle.

In February, we had an honor to meet a first-time teacher in Cebu and learn from an instructor who has a great knowledge on Biblical History. Dr. Jonathan Moore taught the students the 12 books from the Old Testament called the “Minor Prophets” and we had a great time learning from these prophetic books and learn the history of the nation of Israel from these writings.

The students took a short break in March to attend a Summer Lectureship held in Tinubdan, a town on the northern tip of Cebu Island. The theme of this lectureship was Biblical Leadership and the lecturers from the US, brothers Wayne Barrier, Mike Norwood and Robin Dunaway did a great job explaining their assigned topics. There were local ministers who took part in this lectureship and two of our students, Luisito Oliveros and Danilo Torniado were given the task to preach.

We resume our class in April, and Mark Reynolds (Assistant Director of International studies) taught the course from Hebrews and he did a great job teaching from this interesting book. The students learned from this book the preeminence of Jesus Christ, His covenant, sacrifice, priesthood and ministry. We appreciate the greatness of our God and His Son more as we study deeper His word.

In May, I have the opportunity to teach our students two books from the Old Testament, Jeremiah and Lamentations. We study the life of Jeremiah, on how God used him to preach repentance to the nation of Israel and called them back to God. We studied how God destroyed His people because they never listened to His prophet and never repented.

Last month, we had a great week studying the Wisdom Literature in the Old Testament. We covered the 4 wisdom books (Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes & Song of Songs) in 5 days and I highlighted some of the prominent lessons and themes we can find in these books.

We always give thanks to God for our international instructors travelling miles to teach our students and also grateful for the opportunity to learn more of His word. All glory and praise to our God for His goodness.

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” (Psalm 118:1 NKJV)

Ukraine Based Bible Institute Works Among Adversity

Greetings, dear brothers and sisters,

I would like to share some news from Ukraine, as well as updates from several churches and the Bible Institute.

Situation in Ukraine

The overall situation in the country remains tense. Russian forces are gradually advancing in Eastern Ukraine, capturing more territories. They primarily use long-range missiles and aerial bombs, making it challenging for the Ukrainian army to hold their positions. Currently, Ukraine lacks the capability to shoot down aircraft from long distances. General mobilization continues in Ukraine, and all men must register for military service.

Impact on the Church in Bila Tserkva

From the church in Bila Tserkva, which we attended before moving to Germany, another brother has been drafted. His name is Oleg. He has left behind his wife and ten-year-old son and will now defend the homeland. Unfortunately, the war is affecting every family, and this reality has touched all churches deeply. Oleg's commitment and sacrifice are a poignant reminder of the struggles many are facing.

Bible Institute Graduation

In May, the Bible Institute held its graduation ceremony. This year, three students graduated. They are students of war. They began their education when the war started and finished during its continuation. We conducted our graduation ceremony online, as we could not physically be together. This year's graduates are Viktoria, Oleksandr, and Vyacheslav.

- Viktoria: She, along with her husband, is working in the Church of Christ in Chernivtsi. Their dedication to their ministry has been unwavering despite the challenges posed by the ongoing conflict.

- Alexander and Vyacheslav: both actively help in the ministry of the church in Dnipro. Their efforts help the church to grow. They are still young, but their support is very important in this difficult time.

Our Family's Situation

Our family remains in Germany, where we attend a church in Leipzig. We are also actively involved in organizing and conducting meetings for displaced persons, providing them with spiritual and emotional support as they navigate their new realities far from home.

Gratitude for Support

We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to every brother, sister, and church for your continued financial support for the institute. Your generosity enables us to continue our mission and support our community during these trying times. Your prayers and contributions are making a significant impact.

May God keep you safe and bless you abundantly.

With respect and gratitude,

Denys Sopelnyk

Academic and Campaign Updates from the Enugu Center, Nigeria

REPORT OF THE BEAR VALLEY BIBLE INSTITUTE – ENUGU CENTER APRIL – JUNE 2024

INTRODUCTION

The Enugu study center of the Bear Valley Bible Institute expresses her profound gratitude to God Almighty, and to all the great men and women God is using to accomplish the great work done in this part of Africa. We will not cease to thank Bear Valley Bible Institute International, especially for the newly approved director, by name Onwuka Samuel John Kelechukwu. The center is still at the meeting hall of the Church of Christ Garriki Enugu State, Nigeria. To this end, the school has recently secured the services of Hilary Johnson Chukwura (Evang). This is done to complement the efforts of the other instructors.

COMMENCEMENT

Sequel to the approval of the new director, the center's arrangement is in top gear so that, come July 2024,  the center will commence academic activities more effectively than it used to be. Letters of invitation have been sent out to interested candidates.  The new intake exam will be conducted strictly in accordance with the set questions and answers provided by BVBI International. There was a meeting between the new director and the instructors on 24/6/2024,  to help in mapping out modalities of making the school grow.

ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES

The following courses have been taken within the period of this report:

• April, 2024— How we got the Bible

• May, 2024— Hermeneutics

CAMPAIGN PROGRAMS

On Friday, 24th May 2024 the Bear Valley Bible Institute Nigeria-Enugu center students, went for their maiden evangelism outreach at Amaole Town in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State.  After the preaching exercise, the new director worshipped with the very small rural congregation on Sunday the 26th at Amaole.
