Many conversions in Sierra Leone

ACTIVITY OPERATION REPORT FOR JULY, 2024

Full Time and the Extended Programs

INTRODUCTION

We are at that time of the year where it rains almost every time in Sierra Leone, yet our work of reconciling men to Christ and the training of men to be actively engaged in this work never ceases. In July 2024, we resumed our classes and souls were converted. We received more than 300 cartons of evangelistic tracts from Mission printing. We had the Assistant International Director; Brother Mark Reynolds visit us and taught a class. Our Director, Peter Makundu,, who is also assisting our Regional Coordinator, Brother Steve to coordinate other schools in Liberia and Guinea, visited and held a meeting with the Gueckedou, Guinea administration. For more information on the highlights above, we encourage you to keep on reading as we guide you through under the following heading:

RESUMPTION OF CLASSES AND STUDENTS UPDATE

You were informed in our June report that our full time students were sent on break till July 1, 2024. Therefore, by July 1, all of them except one resumed classes. Currently, we have thirteen (13) students in our full time program.  Moreover, our part time students, who went on a week break, also resumed their classes. In our full time program, we have eleven (11) students currently.

CONVERSIONS RESULTING FROM STUDENTS’ AND STAFF WEEKEND EVANGELISM

As the school exists to train evangelists, every member of our family is focused on bringing men to Christ. That is why every week after classes from Mondays to early Fridays, at the evening of Fridays to Sundays, we get involved in evangelism. There is a schedule prepared for this activity and it is truly helping to bring people to Christ, strengthen some weak congregations, and nurture some new ones. Therefore, before July ended, four (4) souls became saved.

CONVERSIONS RESULTING FROM ALUMNI EFFORT

Our graduates are also very busy on the field in carrying out the great commission. They are involved in carrying out the Lord’s mandate in their various localities. So as a result, five (5) souls were converted.

CONVERSIONS RESULTING FROM THE EVANGELISTIC TEAMS EFFORTS

You are already aware of the active works of the evangelistic teams across the country. Therefore, their efforts resulted to Fourteen (14) conversions. Apart from those being saved, the teams kept on strengthening and nurturing the various congregations that they are in touch with.

GRATITUDE FOR EVANGELISTIC TRACTS AND PREACHERS’ BOXES

We are always appreciative of what you are doing for the Lord in Sierra Leone through your support, prayers, and guidance. Just like May 2023, in July 2024, we received three hundred and sixty cartons of Evangelistic Tracts and 40 Preachers’ Boxes, from Mission Printing. Those materials will greatly aid our evangelistic efforts and the school administration; we will share the materials with other preachers and congregations who are zealously promoting evangelism in this country. We are happily saying a big thank you to you all. Thank you for all the funds you sent to get those materials to us. Our students and evangelistic teams have gotten more tracts for field work. We are grateful to Brother Richard Renfro.

BOTHER MARK REYNOLDS VISITS US FOR THE FIRST TIME

The first time that I heard Brother Reynolds name was in October, 2021 when I had just joined the Bear Valley family. During that time, our coordinator, Steve Ashcraft and I were discussing the possibility of inviting our brother for our graduation lectureship. But the Lord delayed his coming until July 16, this year when our dear brother touched down the Lungi Airport and visited us. Just like Brothers Keith and Steve, what a lovely, committed and a hard working brother to be around! His coming was very impactful and rewarding. During his visit, he taught our full time students, How We Got the Bible; he also had a class with our part time students on Marriage and Family Life. Brother Mark’s thorough knowledge of the Bible made those courses look simple and easier, and yet in a real sense they can be difficult courses. Our students (and staff together) learned a lot from our brother. After his time in the classroom, Brother Mark held a very successful meeting with the staff. After that again, he taught a lesson at the leaders and preachers lectureship that was organized for the congregations at the country capital, Freetown. He taught, “Understanding the Difference between Doctrine and Opinion.” You could see how our brother was so busy during the 9 days that he spent with us! Well, we desired that he spent more time with us to impact us the more, but the work demands that he left behind in the USA encouraged us to bid farewell to him.  Brother Mark brought a good number of eye glasses for our brethren who have some eye problems. We acknowledge his generosity and the God Lord will bless him. All those who donated those glasses to us are duly appreciated. We had a great fellowship indeed. We appreciate his coming and we are hopeful that he keeps on visiting us.

CONCLUSION

We are hoping that the Lord will grant us another opportunity to be alive to read the August report again. Till then, may the Lord keep us and be with us all!

West Coast students preach the word

WEST COAST SCHOOL OF PREACHING OPERATIONAL REPORT JUNE 2024

1.     CLASSROOM WORK

On 7nd June, we had the first of the two termly fasting and prayers sections. Studies continued uninterrupted for the full-time students in the month of June. We are very happy to inform you that we have enrolled three new students – two as full-time students and one as a part- time student.

New courses were started for the part-time students in the month. These courses were: the Biblical doctrine of Godhead, the book of Revelation and Biblical counselling. The courses are taught by Joshua Aidoo, Nathaniel Brobbey and Samuel Owusu-Afari.

 2.     PERSONAL EVANGELISM AND BAPTISM

The Lord’s work in the area of evangelism is still going on. Our current and past students continue to preach the word of God through social and traditional media. Two of our instructors were invited to speak on two different facebook platforms. Douglas Armah was invited by one of our immediate past students to speak on the issue of amenability of sinners to the law of Christ and Joshua Aidoo also spoke on the topic – a letter to the 8th church (as in reference to what would Jesus tell His church in the 21st century if he was to write a letter to us). The school continues to preach the undiluted gospel on one of the nation’s television stations (Truth TV) which is watched by thousands of homes both believers and unbelievers. In response to that, we receive a lot of phone calls during the week, especially, from those not members of the church to ask questions about what we preach on the television. This program is aired on Saturday morning and repeated on Tuesday evening.

Personal evangelisms were also done by our students. And about five (5) souls were won for Christ.

3.     PURCHASE OF SCHOOL VAN

The school vehicle successfully landed on campus in the month. There was excitement on campus that day. The joy of the staff and students could not be contained.

Prayers were said to thank God for the successful arrival and future use of the car and also for our sponsors.

Thank you for your support.

Joshua.

Alumni campaign in Cameroon

Dearest in Christ,

Greetings from Cameroon. We hope this report finds you in good health. Our God is good! He is good all the time! The students from the Bear Valley Bible Institute are out on mission work this weekend. The staff and graduates of the Bear Valley schools in Cameroon, through the alumni association, were to converge in a young congregation in the city of Douala called Ngodi Bakoko. This is where one of our graduates, Njume Kelvin, is serving as the preacher. He is also a teacher in some of the circular schools there. As I now write this report, we have all returned home to our different locations safe and sound.

The mission started in Wotutu as some of our graduates were around to collect Mission Printing Bible tracts. 25 specific boxes of tracts were selected, before we all headed off to Ngodi Bakoko Douala for their quarterly alumni evangelistic meeting. Our alumni are still very connected to the work of the school as some have visited and encouraged the current students during chapel. Several of our graduates are also around during missionary visits as they come around to be of help in the work.

The Bear Valley school started in Wotutu under the name of Cameroon Bible Institute. The name was later changed to Bear Valley Bible Institute Cameroon – Wotutu. The school started in 2011 and we graduated our first batch in 2012. As of now, we have graduated 142. During the evangelistic meeting that just ended, of which I was a part, there were 65 out of the 142 graduates present. We have lost some of them naturally by death, some were busy with other commitments, and some could not make it because in these hard times, some cannot afford transportation to the location. Please keep our graduates in your prayers as they go through many challenges to keep up in their ministries.

Plans

We have agreed for the first ever convention, for all of our graduates, to meet in Wotutu for a two-day lectureship in the month of November.

There will be another alumni evangelistic meeting in Tombel in October. Meetings like this are very good, as they give us ample opportunity to evaluate, encourage and motivate our graduates, as they remain steadfast in the ministry of Christ.

 Appreciations

Thank you very much for your love for the work here. Your prayers and your support are greatly appreciated. God is watching, and will reward in due season. Please do your best to share this report with others.

Make a great day.

Elangwe and family

STATE OF THINGS IN OUR COUNTRY-NIGERIA

Across our country-Nigeria, the cost of essential commodities such like rice, beans, Garri and Cassava flour has surged significantly, triggering widespread protests and incidents of looting as citizens grapple with the escalating cost of living. The unexpected rise in food prices has led to public agitation with people in various regions calling for increase in the minimum wage to manage the financial burden.

Recent occurrences indicate a growing sense of desperation among the populace, with some resorting to hijacking trucks loaded with foodstuffs and raiding warehouses to seize supplies.

The wave of looting underscores the acute distress faced by many Nigerians as food affordability countries to plummet.

The dramatic increase in the prices of common foods, emphasizing the economic hardship imposed on average citizens.

The present situation has raised alarm among policy makers, social activities and economists who are concerned about the potential long-term impacts of these price hikes of food security and social stability in the country. In fact, the policy of the new Nigeria government is not favorable to the masses at-all! May God sake our country.

The hardship also affect the numerical growth of the church as well as our weekly collection.

CONCLUSION

We deeply appreciate you all for your great commitment to World Evangelism. May the Lord keep on blessing all our work together in Christ Jesus name. Amen.

Sincerely His & Yours,

Makinde Ebens

The Chief Servant of BVBIN & SWSE-Ibadan and WBSFUW

Great results in Togo

OPERATING  REPORT  BEAR  VALLEY  INSTITUTE  KARA – TOGO (Second quarter 2024)

EXTENDED  PROGRAM ; BVBI – KARA – TOGO

July 11, 2024

INTRODUCTION

Greetings from the north of Togo. All churches of Christ greet you. We appreciate all the efforts you are making to achieve the objectives of the great missions in the world in general and in the north of Togo in particular. This Bible training School helps us all to fight to achieve the objectives of this Great Mission through the training of the brothers of the church. The harvest is great but there are few workers.  These trained brothers will be useful for the harvest. We continue to pray that God will keep you in good health and that he will continue to grant you more wisdom in the mission.

OPERATING  REPORT

1-   The number of students : 09

2-   The courses already taught the first quarter :

a-   Jeremiah and Lamentation : by KPELEVI David

b-   Job and Psalms : by TALAKI Nicodeme

c-    2nd Corinthians : by BEDJELSI  Fidele

3-   The courses that will be thought during the third quarter 2024 :

a-   Ezra to Esther : TALAKI  Nicodeme

b-   Christian evidence : by KPELEVI  David

c-    Church history : by BEDJELSI  Fidele

4-   Instructors’ meeting :

Each of the teachers is determined to motivate each student right to the end, because these students will also help in the work of converting souls for CHRIST. These students are becoming increasingly aware of the work involved and are making commendable efforts. These new Instructors are highly motivated and committed to their work and motivated to bring the vision to fruition because this Bible School is an opportunity to help expand the Kingdom of the Lord. So we’re determined to defy all opposition in northern Togo.

5-   Congregational Activities :

With the arrival of these two local evangelists, we have built up a solid team of three evangelists who are fighting hard to lay the foundations of the church in the north, despite the jealousies that are always raised against us in the direction of this Bible School and the work we do in the villages. Apart from this internal problem of jealousy due to the sponsorship problem, we also encounter the problem of doctrine with the denominations . But we salute the efforts of all concerned for the work accomplished during this quarter.  The team made up of these three evangelists travels the villages every week without rest either to meet and discuss with denominational churches or door-to-door to support digitally local churches already planted or for public evangelistic campaigns.   The results of this work are very encouraging :

-        We were able to convert  and baptize 11 members of the Embassies of Christ Church in Lassa Lao. This church has now become the Church of Christ ,

-        In Soumdina Powayi, we were able to baptize 1 person during our public evangelization campaign,

-        In Soumdina Pida, we baptized 8 people during our public evangelization campaign,

-        In Lassa Ahodo, 2 people were baptized during our public gospel campaign,

-        At Kara-University, 1 person was baptized in a door-to-door evangelistic campaign. In all, 27 people were baptized this quarter.

a-   Worship and edification :

With the students, we form teams to help with teaching on Wednesdays and worship on Sundays at each local church. This organization is helping in the spiritual growth of local churches. Specific teachings are designed to respond to the problems of each locality. We share and discuss problems encountered in our teachings during our meetings. And each local church has effective leadership to help the church.

b-   Door-to-door evangelism :

In addition to evangelistic and edification campaigns, we organize door-to-door evangelism according to a well defined schedule. During this door-to-door evangelism we use church members to help. With this organization, we have baptized 04 people in Lama and 01 people in Kara University.

c-    Seminars :

We organized 3 seminars and a conference with the denominations :

-        The Women Leaders seminar was organized around the general topic : « The qualifications of the woman Leader for a church on the way to heaven. »

-        The Men’s seminar was organized around the general topic : « The qualifications a man of the church must have to push the church towards heaven. »

-        The Women’s seminar revolved around the general topic :« The imperatives of the woman of Christ’s Church in the face of denominations. »

-        The conference with the denominations focused on the general theme :  « The search for Truth. »

Participants in these seminars and conferences are very satisfied with the biblical teachings they receive. Interestingly, a few weeks after the conference with the denominations, we baptized 11 members of the denominations. We implore everyone to pray for these new converts

d-   Read and speak kabiye program :

This program has been designed to help brothers better master the local language and assist effectively during worship. This mastery of the local language can help brothers to help local churches in the absence of evangelists, who are in very short supply in the north. This may help evangelists to consider planting other churches.

e-   Denominational Program :

This program helps us to get in touch with denominations and bring them together for the study of biblical truths. We have developed this program here in 3 localities : Atchangbade ; Soumdina Pida and at the Bible School (IBBV) in Kara. These are the groups of denominations that we have brought together in a Bible conference. A few weeks later, we baptized 11 people. This program requires extensive biblical knowledge to be able to convince denominations biblically.

6-   Radio Program :

Radio is a powerful medium for spreading the gospel. Many listen but react little. We were able to baptize a listener who encourages us at every program on the Radio and with whom we have continued our Bible studies. He was finally baptized. We salute those who support us in this program and pray that Gopel will bless them abundantly. We also need your prayers for this program.

Upcoming  Program

-        July 2024 :  Evangelists seminar

-        August 2024 :-  Children  seminar

-        September 2024 :  Women and Men seminar

-        Speak and Read Kabiye Program

-        Denominational Program

In Christ,

Fidele.

New students arrive in Visakhapatnam, India

Dear Brethren in Christ,

Greetings to you in the precious name of the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior. I Hope this email finds you all good. By the grace of God we are all doing good. We thank you so much for your prayers.

We are blessed to be able to start a new batch of preaching students at Visakha Valley Bible College. After the summer break, slowly new students have been enrolled. Currently, we have  13 students enrolled. We are expecting to have 4 more students by the end of this month and are so excited to see the students being enrolled in the school even with difficulties both socially and religiously. We are thankful.

We had our faculty meeting to discuss the beginning of the new academic year, how to go about with the new students etc.,  We are thankful to have a new teacher who is none other than Raju Babu who has been our student 6 years ago. He successfully completed the two year course and gained experience as a preacher and now he will be used to teach in the School. We are proud of him. You can see Raju babu in the group picture, he is wearing a maroon color Shirt.

Our services in the society are being extended: We are grateful for the opportunities that come our way to meet the society with our activities. Our Tailoring Institute is a great blessing, helping us to be known and respected, because every 3 months 15-20 women are being trained in sewing education. Of course our students get the same opportunity. Recently our facility has been used to conduct Blood donation program by Rotary International. We are blessed to be part of this work., Our faculty along with some students donated their blood to help those who are in life struggle. As it was mentioned in Gal 6:10 always making use of the opportunity that's coming in our way to serve our brethren as well as the community around  to show that we care, thankful to God for this opportunity.

Our school has become a place providing education, doing social service and also a hub for Christian brotherhood. We welcome several preachers in the city to attend special classes and also they come for discussing with our teachers about some doctrinal matters. During this situation we are able to provide some useful literature, that is great material we receive from World Evangelism. We are so thankful to Jerry and Paula Bates for keeping us in the list. We receive regularly and share it with our preachers and preachers who visit our school. We are thankful that we are able to spread out the good news through this channel.

We are so much thankful to all the brethren at Lake Houston, Farmersville and Strickland for their charity. At the same time we are not ignorant of Bates for their continued support and encouragement. At this time I would like to take a moment to appreciate the Elders at Strickland for considering to help the Graduates with New Bicycles. They are so happy and using them in the ministry. We are so much thankful for your kindness in helping so. God bless you all.

Our note of thanks to Brother Mark Reynolds, who is the coordinator of our Bear Valley School International and Director brother Keith Kasarjian for their great leadership and encouragement. Our thanks must be extended to the Elders of Bear Valley Church of Christ too for their great desire and commitment in producing wonderful preachers in over 60 nations across the world. Our Lord is so proud of you all. You are truly doing the very best in fulfilling the Great Commission given by our Lord.

Best wishes to you all from our Staff, Students and Faculty of Visakha Valley Bible College.  By the way, I am getting ready to come to USA in the first week of August and will be visiting all the supporting congregations, l am looking forward to seeing and talking to you.

God Bless you all.

In Christ,

Successful Second Quarter and Evangelism Efforts in Accra-East, Ghana

Bear Valley Bible Institute - Accra East

Second Quarter Report - 2024

Courses covered

The second quarter commenced on April 2nd, 2024, the first Friday of April, and concluded on June 29th, 2024, the last Saturday of June. During this quarter, the school successfully completed three courses:

  • The books of 1 & 2 Thessalonians

  • 1 & 2 Timothy, and Titus

  • Denominational doctrines

Report on the Students

The students' performance was highly commendable throughout this 2nd quarter. They demonstrated exceptional commitment by attending classes punctually and regularly. Moreover, they actively participated in class tests and discussions. The average attendance for this quarter was nine (9) students.

In April, all students participated in the Bear Valley Bible Institute graduation ceremony held at Serpeman Church of Christ auditorium on April 20th. The program was lively, and the speakers' presentations were inspiring. It was encouraging to see so much joy on the faces of the students.

House to House Evangelism

House-to-house evangelism continues in three communities: Gomoa Asebu, Santor, and Awutu Breku Twiime. These communities have congregations needing urgent attention, particularly Gomoa Asebu and Santor, where ministers are currently absent. I oversee these congregations along with Nmai Djorn, the mother church. Students are assigned to these congregations on a rotating basis, visiting every Sunday. They take the opportunity to engage in house-to-house evangelism after worship. During this period, we witnessed three baptisms: one in Gomoa Asebu, another in Awutu Breku Twiime, and one at Boi Church of Christ. At Boi Church, our student John Achie Quophy serves as a part-time preacher in the congregation

Report on Awutu Breku Twiime Church

The students continue their visits to Awutu Breku Twiime Church of Christ this quarter. Established on September 24, 2023, through the Bear Valley Church Planting Program by Accra East, the church experienced one baptism during this period, maintaining an average attendance of 25 members. Accra East students continue to rotate their visits to the church every Sunday. On Sunday, June 30th, 2024, all students went to Awutu Breku and Asebu to assist with worship and evangelism.

Church Planting Program 2024

This year's church planting program is set for Achansa-Abobiri in the Eastern Region, a small cocoa farming village. Initially planned for April 26th-28th, 2024, the campaign and inauguration were postponed due to the passing of one of the community elders and subsequent seasonal rains. The new dates are now scheduled for July 27th-28th, 2024. We remain hopeful and pray for the successful establishment of the Church of Christ in this community.

Pending Lectureship

The school, in collaboration with Nmai Djorn Church of Christ, has scheduled a lectureship for the 1st Sunday in September this year. The event is planned for a Sunday to maximize participation. After discussions with the students over the past month and a half, the final date is confirmed for September 1st. For this year's lectureship, we intend to invite speakers from Bear Valley Bible Institute whom we trust to effectively address the chosen topic

The chosen topics for the lectureship are:

  1. How to Safeguard Biblical Truth in a Changing World

  2. Principles of Hermeneutics and Interpretation: (Foundational rules and guidelines for interpreting and understanding biblical texts)

  3. The Role of Scripture in Today's Culture

Thank you,

Peter Arhinful-Quansah

Bible School Updates in Cebu, Phillippines

Bear Valley Bible Institute — Cebu, Philippines — 2024 1 st Half Report

In-Depth Biblical Courses in 2024

The school in Cebu has entered another year of learning and we are blessed to have Keith Kasarjian (Director of International Studies) and Mark Reynolds (Assistant Director of International Studies) mentoring our students and teaching the Bible in-depth. In January, Keith Kasarjian taught the book of Romans and the students had a great time studying this book, especially from brother Kasarjian, who did a wonderful job explaining this epistle.

In February, we had an honor to meet a first-time teacher in Cebu and learn from an instructor who has a great knowledge on Biblical History. Dr. Jonathan Moore taught the students the 12 books from the Old Testament called the “Minor Prophets” and we had a great time learning from these prophetic books and learn the history of the nation of Israel from these writings.

The students took a short break in March to attend a Summer Lectureship held in Tinubdan, a town on the northern tip of Cebu Island. The theme of this lectureship was Biblical Leadership and the lecturers from the US, brothers Wayne Barrier, Mike Norwood and Robin Dunaway did a great job explaining their assigned topics. There were local ministers who took part in this lectureship and two of our students, Luisito Oliveros and Danilo Torniado were given the task to preach.

We resume our class in April, and Mark Reynolds (Assistant Director of International studies) taught the course from Hebrews and he did a great job teaching from this interesting book. The students learned from this book the preeminence of Jesus Christ, His covenant, sacrifice, priesthood and ministry. We appreciate the greatness of our God and His Son more as we study deeper His word.

In May, I have the opportunity to teach our students two books from the Old Testament, Jeremiah and Lamentations. We study the life of Jeremiah, on how God used him to preach repentance to the nation of Israel and called them back to God. We studied how God destroyed His people because they never listened to His prophet and never repented.

Last month, we had a great week studying the Wisdom Literature in the Old Testament. We covered the 4 wisdom books (Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes & Song of Songs) in 5 days and I highlighted some of the prominent lessons and themes we can find in these books.

We always give thanks to God for our international instructors travelling miles to teach our students and also grateful for the opportunity to learn more of His word. All glory and praise to our God for His goodness.

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” (Psalm 118:1 NKJV)

Ukraine Based Bible Institute Works Among Adversity

Greetings, dear brothers and sisters,

I would like to share some news from Ukraine, as well as updates from several churches and the Bible Institute.

Situation in Ukraine

The overall situation in the country remains tense. Russian forces are gradually advancing in Eastern Ukraine, capturing more territories. They primarily use long-range missiles and aerial bombs, making it challenging for the Ukrainian army to hold their positions. Currently, Ukraine lacks the capability to shoot down aircraft from long distances. General mobilization continues in Ukraine, and all men must register for military service.

Impact on the Church in Bila Tserkva

From the church in Bila Tserkva, which we attended before moving to Germany, another brother has been drafted. His name is Oleg. He has left behind his wife and ten-year-old son and will now defend the homeland. Unfortunately, the war is affecting every family, and this reality has touched all churches deeply. Oleg's commitment and sacrifice are a poignant reminder of the struggles many are facing.

Bible Institute Graduation

In May, the Bible Institute held its graduation ceremony. This year, three students graduated. They are students of war. They began their education when the war started and finished during its continuation. We conducted our graduation ceremony online, as we could not physically be together. This year's graduates are Viktoria, Oleksandr, and Vyacheslav.

- Viktoria: She, along with her husband, is working in the Church of Christ in Chernivtsi. Their dedication to their ministry has been unwavering despite the challenges posed by the ongoing conflict.

- Alexander and Vyacheslav: both actively help in the ministry of the church in Dnipro. Their efforts help the church to grow. They are still young, but their support is very important in this difficult time.

Our Family's Situation

Our family remains in Germany, where we attend a church in Leipzig. We are also actively involved in organizing and conducting meetings for displaced persons, providing them with spiritual and emotional support as they navigate their new realities far from home.

Gratitude for Support

We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to every brother, sister, and church for your continued financial support for the institute. Your generosity enables us to continue our mission and support our community during these trying times. Your prayers and contributions are making a significant impact.

May God keep you safe and bless you abundantly.

With respect and gratitude,

Denys Sopelnyk

SECOND QUARTER, 2024 REPORT FROM BEAR VALLEY BIBLE INSTITUTE PORT HARCOURT, RIVERS STATE NIGERIA, WEST AFRICA

BEAR VALLEY BIBLE INSTITUTE RIVERS STATE NIGERIA HOSTED ONE DAY INTENSIVE LECTURESHIP IN OMOKU, RIVERS STATE NIGERIA ON MARCH 30TH 2024

In our first quarter, 2024 report, we mentioned of our plan to host a day intensive lectureship on 30th March, 2024 at Omoku centre. The theme of the concluded lectureship was: “Churches of Christ in the 21st Century: Challenges and Prospects.”

We are happy to report that the lectureship was successful. Twenty one congregations in the area were represented. Some congregations from Port Harcourt City also attended. One of our teachers by name Michael C. Nwankwo presented the first key note on the topic Majoring in the Minor and one of our graduates by name Gentle Nwamana presented the second key note on the topic Sustaining Church Autonomy and Church Cooperation.  Before the close of the lectureship, we used the occasion to encourage the participants to enroll in the BVBI program. At the end of March 2023 we got some new students in Omoku Center as a result of the concluded lectureship.

WEEKEND LECTURES ARE GOING ON IN OUR TWO CENTERS

It is a pleasure to report that lectures are going on in our two centers. In this year 2024, we had taught and completed the following courses: (1) 1,2 Peter, James and Jude,  (2) Advanced Christian Evidence, (3) 1 Corinthians, (4) 2 Corinthians, (5) Old Testament (Book of the law), (6) Leadership, (7) Acts of the Apostles 2, (8) Bible Geography, (9) Prison Epistles, (10) Denominational Doctrines, (11) 1, 2 Timothy and Titus. We are grateful for the privilege we had to teach two courses in a month and we are making good use of the privilege.

UPDATE ON ANOTHER SET OF OUR STUDENTS WHO WILL BE DUE FOR GRADUATION SOON

We are still working on the records of another set of our students who had completed the 48 courses. As soon as the transcripts are ready, we shall send them to Chad Wagner for verification and approval. If approved, it will be our second time to graduate students from our two centers which started in 2019. We are grateful to God and to our sponsors for the success of Bear Valley Bible Institute in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

STUDENTS/TEACHERS EVANGELISM OUTREACH TOOK PLACE ON SATURDAY JUNE 29TH, 2024

Students and teachers evangelism outreach took place on Saturday, June 29th, 2024. We worked with two congregations within the locations of our school centers. We went out to the streets, houses and shops and preached the gospel of Christ. We discovered two members of the church who stopped fellowship with the saints with the excuse that they don’t know where the church was located. We talked with them and united them to the brethren within their location. We also met with many prospects who promised to be baptized soon. As the congregations we worked with continue to do the follow-up, we hope to have some converts among the prospects. We are happy for the participation of our students and teachers in the evangelism outreach and for the success of the work done.

REMEMBER OUR STUDENTS IN NIGERIA IN YOUR PRAYERS

Our students and teachers are requesting prayers because of the present hardship in Nigeria caused by the high level of inflation in the country which is affecting everyone who is living in Nigeria right now. The students and the teachers are in distress and in need of prayers to survive the high cost of foods, medicines, transportation and other goods and services in the country. Indeed, we need serious prayers because the adversity in Nigeria is getting to an unbearable level.

However, we are grateful to our sponsors in the United States of America for their financial and moral support. We would like to say that all the efforts and support are getting great results and success in our school in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

Students in Owerri, Nigeria Persist Amongst Different Circumstances

BEAR VALLEY BIBLE INSTITUTE NIGERIA, OWERRI CENTER REPORT   - APRIL -JUNE  2024

The quarter started with some challenges, our director lost his two siblings the same time, our two students lost their mother, and yet to be buried, one of our lecturers Dr Gideon Nweze lost his wife and is yet to be buried, another student was involved in an accident, still recuperating,  although this affected attendance, but in all this we are grateful to God that we are still moving on.

The security situation in Owerri is gradually normalizing, but we still organize lessons sometimes on weekdays or Sunday evenings depending on the situation.

Presently we have 19 students but not all are regular.

EVANGELISM
Our scheduled open air evangelism for this quarter couldn't hold due to circumstances beyond our control, there was heavy down pour, hence we rescheduled it to the month of July.
Also, the first preachers and church leaders workshop which is being organised by the school which supposed to  take place this June has been rescheduled to August due to logistics issues.
Concerning brethren from far locations from Owerri city requesting for arrangements to come to their area and give them lectures, we are yet to conclude arrangements on this as we have not gotten a reasonable number of interested students.

Our sincere gratitude will always go to God,  and we will not cease to appreciate the parent body and the school authorities for giving us the privilege of having a study center in Owerri Imo  state.
We will continue to do our best in this service of moulding men for the service of God and humanity.
Our promise to maintain a high standard remains unshakeable  and surely we will make the school proud.

Yours because of Christ,
Chinedu Akandu
Director

Students Persevere in Lima, Peru

Dear brothers,
Receive our cordial greetings.

After a period of two months we write these lines again to inform you about the progress of the institute in Lima – Peru. The Lord has been good to us by blessing us with good health and opportunities to serve Him, in addition to opening the generous hands of our sponsors who are committed to the permanence of the program. We pray that God allows everything to move forward with his blessing.

The last two months have served to share with our students the courses: 1) Gospel of John and his epistles and 2) Galatians. It has truly been a very edifying and instructive two months. The courses were taught by Brother Abraham Alata and myself (Juan Abanto). Currently we are sharing classes with our students virtually. Financial limitations, health problems, work activities, congregational responsibilities have somehow been the scenarios that have prompted us to opt for this modality. All students are struggling to assimilate the injuries and meet the requirements of each course.

One of our teachers (Andrés Núñez) was involved in a medical evangelistic campaign in the month of June in a city in the north of the country about eight hours away, along with a large group of ministers, evangelists and missionaries from the States, the The result of this missionary work has resulted in 12 baptisms, naturally this is a new great challenge for this young congregation established in the city of Chimbote. What I am trying to say is that, either directly or indirectly, our teachers are in some way or another involved in the work of the Lord in each of their congregations of which they are members, and also in missionary work.

We are close to having the second Retreat of Preachers and Leaders in our country and with the favor of God we will be participating in this event in which we hope to leave some mark in the lives of those who are going to participate in this event and also stimulate the brothers to consider the BVBI – Peru as a training center for the brotherhood.

Continue enjoying the Christian life, your brothers in Christ from Lima – Peru.
Your servant in Christ, Juan Abanto

Positive Updates from Benin City, Nigeria

SECOND QUARTER REPORT OF BEAR VALLEY BIBLE INSTITUTE, WEEKEND SCHOOL, BENIN CITY, EDO STATE, NIGERIA

With a grateful heart, we, the entire staff, students, and the leadership of the host congregation, Church of Christ, 12, Ezoti Lane, Off Airport Road, Benin City, express our profound gratitude to the Bear Valley International Bible Institute, Denver, Colorado, U.S.A, and all donors for your unalloyed financial, moral and spiritual support that has kept us in the business of training men who are  desirous about taking the gospel to wherever man is found irrespective of their location. We are grateful.

This second quarter of 2024 (April, May and June) was full of exciting activities. Academically, we have successfully covered first and second Thessalonians, the cost of discipleship and leadership. The students took the final examination and their performances were impressive. The instructors, Brother Andrew Osatohamen, Enneh Everest, Daniel Fidelis, Dunia Christopher were diligent in the discharge of their duties.

The school collaborated with the Church of Christ, Ewa Road, Off Upper Mission Road, Benin City for a one day evangelism, both from house to house and open air preaching. The students turned out in good numbers. It is our prayer that God give the increase. Also, on the same day, 30th of June, 2024, ten students were led by brother Dunia Christopher for evangelism in Sule Camp near Ughoton-Gelegele Sea Port, about 32.5 km from Benin City, a very difficult terrain to access. Our consolation however is that the gospel is preached. There are many prospects in the camp as no denomination has found its way there yet. We taught the only “pastor,” who was trying to start up a church there, the true gospel together with his household. Although they were not baptized, they pleaded that we should come again. Sule Camp is an agrarian settlement with a population of about 700 settlers who are from neighbouring states of Delta and Ondo. The Church there was established by one of our student, Brother Festus Oghogho during the first quarter of 2024 shortly after he recovered from prostatitis. The church is being strengthened by Bear Valley Bible Institute, Benin City. There are six baptized members and twelve regular attendees. The church has enjoyed the goodwill of the camp’s head as she (the church) has been gifted with a portion of land to erect a shelter for worshipers.

One of our students, Brother Solomon Tobore, a legal practitioner, was recently appointed as preacher for Ewa Road Church of Christ, a service he never thought he could be given a consideration. Thanks to God Almighty and the Bear Valley family all over the world.

We thank you all for your partnership with us. Your support is highly appreciated as it has enabled us to train gospel preachers and reach the lost souls with the gospel of Christ. We pray that God bless you all ceaselessly in all you do in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Dunia Christopher

It was quite interesting to study about the "Christian Ethics" with  Dominic Dakup as the instructor.
It was an interesting course looking Christian ethics and the world ethics. The course exposed students to the ethics of the church. The number of students that attended the course were twelve (12).

Nyanya center had it quarterly evangelism at Mararaba Central Congregation. The students officiated all the activities in worship that day, two backsliding members were restored to service as the students went out after worship for door to door evangelism which was carried out. To the glory of God, seeds were also planted and we pray that God takes control for the seeds to germinate. The congregation was excited hosting the students. Students in attendants were nine (9).
On behalf of the students: "We are grateful for the opportunity the school authority has provided for brethrens to study the words of God."

REPORT FOR JUNE:

On behalf of the students: They were grateful for the opportunity the school authority provided for brethrens to study the words of God.
There was no Evangelism outreach in the month under review, but the next quarter promises to be interesting because of the beehives of activities lined up.
At the end of June, exams were completed on the various subjects and the results are expected to be turned in by lecturers.
We currently have upto eleven students in Nyanya and thirteen in KADO centers.
We have about 12 students who did not make it to the last graduation. Plans are on gear to have them retake the courses they did not do well. We schedule to meet with them and have them complete their academic effects before the next graduation.
