Introduction 

Holiday is here again as we end up the first semester with good news! It has been a very productive semester with good news and visiting teachers than ever before. We always say it is holiday time but in reality it is not as the students work tirelessly in their home congregations. The students will be out of school for one month 2 weeks and will be doing lots of door to door preaching and teaching.Some of our former graduates are reporting good news too from the good work they are doing. This month we were also blessed by the visiting short course teachers from the USA. The former graduates have reported 21 baptisms and 67 restored. Out of the 21 baptized, 4 of them are those they are studying with us through world bible school. We have 301 students registered and some who have already finished the 7 series of courses have received an ESV Bible. To God be the glory!

Teaching 

This semester has come to an end and students have gone for holiday after spending 4 months of classes work. The semester ended with the course on Romans taught by Daniel from the USA. Daniel was accompanied by one of the deacons from where Brother Daniel is preaching. Both of the two are good Brothers with the great zeal to help Malawi grow in the knowledge of the word. We hope they will come again to help us teach.

Evangelism

Some of our former graduates have reported good news to us and we are also glad to share with all who read our monthly reports. Brother Shadreck from Pharombe reported that 5 souls were added last 2 weeks as a result of his preaching door to door; Brother Takesure reported 9 souls saved and 67 more restored; brother Saliwa reported 4 souls being added to the church and also Brother Mateyo reported 3 souls baptized. We are very thankful to hear that our graduates are doing what has been planted in them. This is always encouraging news to every teacher locally and internationally. We are also praying daily for the WBS students who are registered through BVBI- Ekwendeni. We have witnessed many souls being baptized out of 301 total registered. Only this month 4 have been baptized. Praise God!

We are so thankful for the BVBI-International for the strong bond with the Hillcrest church in Missouri, this has brought a change in the school here in Malawi. We pray that the fellowship will continue for the betterment of the school progress here in Malawi. We pray for your families to prosper as this work still needs your help and support. Working as a team will easily destroy Satan’s kingdom. Matthew 28:18-20!

Pressing on in Ukraine

Greetings to our dear brothers and sisters and churches. I am very grateful for your prayers and the assistance that you provide for the people of Ukraine. We still have a war going on that everyone is tired of, except for the aggressor. The Russian army artillery shelling rains down on the entire territory of Ukraine; the Russians are striking with hypersonic missiles. Both the military and civilians are dying alike every day. Many refugees are coming to us; we have distributed thousands of food packages but it seems like there’s no end to this.

People need food, clothing; many of them are resentful of their lives and angry at God. Many children are psychologically traumatized; they and their parents are calling us on the phone to get in line in order to obtain humanitarian aid. And all of this is happening far from the battlefields; at the frontlines there’s only death, pain and grief. New cemeteries are growing like mushrooms after the rainfall. We don’t even know the exact numbers of the fallen soldiers who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom.

Bible Institute

Last month the following subjects were taught: the Book of Galatians and the Book of Revelation (teacher Denys Sopelnyk), Prison Epistles (Vitaly Rodichev). The month of May is the last month for our three graduates. It was a very difficult period for these guys. At first, it was the Covid 19 quarantine which forced everyone to stay at home in order to avoid the virus. Then the war began which made people move all over the place. During that time, we experienced massive missile and drone air attacks, in addition to blackouts and energy cuts. In a word, the reality is such that there was no quiet time during their studies. I am very grateful to all the teachers who, in spite of the hardships, found the time and made the effort to make sure that the preachers’ preparation program continued in Ukraine.

We are still trying to visit the town of Kramatorsk once a month where we are taking the humanitarian food aid. In May we made a second trip to that frontline town. It’s only twenty miles from the frontlines. We are distributing food packages and conducting evangelistic lessons; we also are inviting the people to attend our worship services on Sunday. Thank God, we have good results. People do come and listen to the gospel message even on the days when there is no food packages distribution. May the Lord keep and protect His church. Thank you for your love.

Tyler King visits Cebu, Philippines

Report for month of May 2023

Tyler King from BVBI Denver visited and taught a class to BVBI Cebu students:

The students of BVBI Cebu, Philippines had a great opportunity learning the prophetic books of Ezekiel and Daniel from Tyler King. Brother Tyler is currently working as the Director of Development with BVBI in Denver, Colorado. It was his first time visiting and teaching in Cebu and he has already made good relationships with our students. Brother Tyler did a great job teaching these 2 OT books and our students really enjoyed the class. We are looking forward to having him in Cebu and study the Bible with him again.

Ten souls baptized by one of our students:

Ronel Romano, one of our students from the Province of Negros Oriental reported ten baptisms last May 1. These souls are now added to the church in Kilaban, Negros Oriental. These were the results of their evangelism and Bible studies. We give back all the glory to God.

A History of the Visakhapatnam school

Dear brethren in Christ,

Greetings to you in Christ name. India has been very fertile land for cultivating Christianity. Over 50 yrs of mission efforts has helped the church to be established in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. The great effort of evangelism has given wide open opportunity to establish congregations in the state it all started in Urban areas, gradually spread to villages, and later it took a very high speed in going into the most remote areas like villages that do not have water or electric facility. Further into villages/hamlets where there are no roads, where one can only reach by walking for hours. Efforts of missionaries have given wonderful results of acquiring more souls to Christ and churches began to grow in number, spirituality, and Leadership.

As the years go by, the older dedicated men who were the reason for the first phase of evangelism and  acquired wonderful results through their dedicated efforts, now needed someone to carry forward the responsibility of Evangelism and Leadership. Since the Evangelism opportunities were wide open, missionaries have looked into some other avenues like translating and publishing  Christian literature as well as FM Radio Broadcasting. This increased the need for more, Bible educated preachers and leaders to reach the lost. This has given opportunity to start full-time preacher training schools in India.

The establishment of the church in the City of Visakhapatnam has a history of over 50 years; however there was no full-time preaching school established. Brother Muppidi Samuel Raju, who was the founder and director of Visakha Valley Bible College had noticed this opportunity of establishing a full-time school in Visakhapatnam, which is a big industrial area where people from surrounding districts and states like Odissa, Bihar and Chattheesgaudh often travel. The Elders who are overseeing the Bear Valley Bible Institute were looking for a place to establish a school in India. So, after a thorough examination and discussion done by the brethren who represent BVBID, the Elders gave permission to start the School at Vishakhapatnam with the monthly support from Lake Houston Church of Christ, Houston, TX under the oversight of the Elders of Strickland Church of Christ who have known brother Samuel Raju since the year 1999.

In the year 2008, the school began with great excitement in the City of Visakhaptanam. Everyone in the church rejoiced with this new establishment. Several men and  untrained preachers showed great interest to join in the school, and rushed to get admission into the new full-time school. God had given a great opportunity to brother Samuel along with two preachers from the Visakha area along with his son, Muppidi John Dean who is a graduate of HCU, AL. This new school got everybody’s attention in the city and around, which lead to teamwork in reaching out to some weaker congregations and remotest place where there is need of evangelism. It resulted the preachers getting together every month starting from Visakhaptnam reaching to the neighboring districts such as Vijayanagaram and Srikakulam. The program called ‘Preachers Fellowship Meeting’ furthered the opportunity of providing education to the local men who would carry out the gospel to their own communities and also working preachers being edified.

As the years went by there was need for providing space to more students along with the congregation that had been established in the school premises. The school premises were owned by Samuel Raju and his wife, who both willingly dedicated it for the mission purpose, which had been a long-time dream of brother Samuel Raju. With the help of the brethren, the school started to expand it wings of training men to preach. Gradually, the school facility has been able to have a space for the students to live, study, learn, worship, eat, cook, store and also to host guests. We are very thankful to the brethren who made this possible, especially the Elders at Strickland and brother Jerry Bates. We were encouraged through Jerry and Paula’s regular visits and listening and understanding the mission field information. They have always responded so positively which enable us to publish thousands of Gospel Tracts, Hymn Books in Telugu Language and distribute hundreds of Bibles to graduates of our school. We are very thankful to Jerry and Paula for their great encouragement to the school as well as to the students.

Our school is known for not only a full-time school but also provides practical education to the students. This is an essential program that has to be in the training program, it makes the students to be more practical in learning to preach. The great model our Lord presented through training His disciples for three and-a-half years motivates us to conduct a program called ‘Gospel Campaign’ . it’s a program gives a great opportunity to reach out to strangers with a gospel tract, opens up an opportunity for a Bible Study, and to recommend the local congregation in that area. Every time we conduct this, it provides our students a practical education, at the same time it helps the local congregation and the minister in reaching out, getting to know the people around.  Also annual programs such as Seminars and Lectureships give the students to learn and organize the programs and also to serve in their capacity. Moreover, youth program like VBS/Youth Rally/ Future Preacher Training Program gives more understanding of the avenues to work in the mission field to help establish a congregation and to edify them.

So far 6 batches of successful students have been sent into the real world ministry after their graduation. So far 100 graduates have bee sent out to the mission field. We heard there are 106 congregations that are in operation to date. So the 15 years of efforts under the leadership of Brother Samuel Raju has given these encouraging results.  We humbly praise God for all the short course teachers who have made all this possible, to God be the glory and to the leadership of Bear Valley International.

Tirupati, India students busy with gospel meetings

Reporting Letter for the month of May-2023

To all  prayer partners of BVBI, greetings to you in the name of Jesus Christ. We pray that this reporting letter may serve us to find you all good health. We thank you so much for your continual prayers for the smooth function of BVBI-Extension centre at Tirupati, A.P, India. We are happy to a share brief report for the month of May-2023.

The Month of May Summer in India: Sun heat is so high during May in India. The old people tell us that they never experienced this kind of hot temperature previously like the summer season during this year 2023. But God is kind enough to protect us.

Gospel meetings at Karnoon disctir, A.P; The summer is a suitable season for evening gospel meetings. Our BVBI student Mr.Yovel and his wife Mrs.Sujanthan, along with another student Mr.Yuvaraj and his wife Mrs.Swapna are from karnool district in A.P , state. It is about 500 miles away from Tirupati. They conducted 3 days of gospel meetings on May 8, 9, and 10 at their village. We had more than 250 people gathering for the night meetings, and during the daytime, we had Bible studies. We are happy to share with you that more than 150 people were in attendance for the Bible class.

Gospel meetings at Vidyanagar, Nellore  disctir, A.P;- We conducted two days of gospel meetings at Vidyanagar on May 12th and 13th.  We had more than 200 people in attendance for the meeting.

Baptisms:- By the grace of God 17 souls were baptized in the month of May. We request you to pray for the new souls so that they grow in the image of His son Jesus Christ.

Bible studies for the village people:-  Our BVBI students have started group Bible studies at 15 places. They are teaching wonderful lessons for the spiritual growth of the people.

Campaigning :- we conducted campaigning at Poolathota village on May 18th, and encouraged the village congregation in that village.

Audio Bibles distribution campaigning for the blind people:- We have conducted bible camp for the visually challenged people and distributed audio Bibles for 50 people at Nellore

My west Godavari district  Travel:- Myself and a previous BVBI student, Mr.John Wesly, travelled by train from Tiripati to Narasapur. We conducted 3 meetings in the Narasapur area. We visited some of our BVBI students and encouraged them.

New batch for 2023:- All the Indian schools will be reopen from June 12th onwards, we would like to open our school the second week of June 2023.

Skill Training: After the completion of  2 years training our students need a livelihood to sustain and preach the gospel as many of them come from poor family backgrounds. Therefore today our faculty members and myself consulted with a nearby skill training center. They would provide part-time skill development courses  to our students during their leisure time and weekend days to establish dairy farms, sheep farms, poultry farms, piggery farms etc.. to improve their livelihood . We would like to encourage our students to have self-employment and do the evangelism in India after completion of Bible training at BVBI.

We are thankful to our director and coordinator for their love, sacrifice, and commitment to establish BVBI extension centre at Tirupati, A.P, India.  We are ever grateful to  them for their hard work and and all your encouragement. Students grow in the Lord in Uganda

Brethren, 

Grace to you and peace from God our father and Lord Jesus Christ. 

Its always my joy and where the opportunity is to give thanks to God always for you and making mention of you in our prayers constantly bearing in mind the work of faith and the lobor of love and the steadfastness of hope that is found in our Lord Jesus be multiplied to you more and more. Amen.

It has been a while, almost three months, but with the protection,  He is still keeping us. The school has closed and students are in their break for one month and three weeks. They are expected back on 28th July and classes begin on 30th.

The school has been going on very well. Students are showing the great desire to study which thing is encouraging the teachers, giving them positive energy. Very much impressed with these great men.

Comparing to the first weeks, we see the fears that these men had is disappearing with too much hope that their two years at Bear Valley Uganda will be of great importance to the church as well as them as preachers. 

This  period of time, I made a visitation program to some of our congregations I have never been to. This I did because two years are not too far to the next intake.  This was an encouraging trip and the congregations I was able to visit promised to send preachers when the right time is there. On this trip I found out that many of our congregations are not able to have access to communion cup, with this I request that if any brother from over there comes here, please do us a favor and carry some for us.

Kenya students lead door knocking campaign

Dear brethren

Thanks again to God the Almighty to have given us opportunity to update you with student's report for this 3rd quarter of their first year- sixth intake at the Kenya School of Preaching Kisumu.

In order for the students to prove that they love and appreciate the training here, they have maintained their number 20- no one wants to lose his chance. The current students have been very instrumental to the Tieng're congregation that meets close to the school. We had a gospel meeting at this congregation in the first week of May, 2023 where the students were the team leaders in the groups of preachers who went to knock doors in the community around the church and helped baptize those who believed. On two occasions, a group of four students went on their own to visit a local congregation called Wang' Arot where they edified, evangelized and baptized new converts. On Saturdays they would help the Tieng're local church preacher Nixon to evangelize while on Sundays they would aid in church services. The total number of baptisms they had conducted are 12, both at Tieng're and other churches. 

The school has closed today June 2nd for June holidays till July 3rd, 2023 when we will again carry on with the classes. This time, teachers we have had are: Charles, David, John Paul and Elias. They are the ones who have taught 7 courses of this quarter. 

We ask for prayers on behalf of the students that they may reach home safely. Again we ask prayers for the work ahead of them in their home local congregations. We really appreciate the brethren and congregations that stand with us in supporting the work which goes on at this school. We pray for you just as you pray for us. We ask that our God will not forget your tireless efforts directed to K.S.O.P for his name's sake.

Monthly Report - April 2023

We begin this month's report with gratitude to God for another successful month at our college. As we reflect on the past few weeks, we are filled with gratitude for His faithfulness and provision. Here are some highlights of the month:

Academic Activities:
We are pleased to announce that the second quarter of the academic year began on April 9, and academic activities are in full swing. Students and faculty have resumed classes with renewed zeal and dedication, determined to achieve academic excellence. The second quarter is expected to end in June, and we are confident that it will be a successful one.

Gospel Campaign:
The Gospel Campaign team at our college recorded two baptisms and restored one member this month. It was an inspiring moment for us all, reminding us of the impact of sharing the Gospel. We are planning to hold our next campaign in Duayeden, Trebo, and Botokora. We urge everyone to support us in prayer and contribution as we reach out to these communities with the Good News.

School Building Project:
The construction of the wall for our school building project is in progress. We are grateful for the team of skilled workers who are working tirelessly to ensure that the project is completed according to schedule. We believe that this building will provide better facilities for our students and enhance the quality of education.

Radio Programme:
We have started utilizing the opportunity to preach on the radio, and it has been a fantastic experience so far. Our Director, Bro E. O. Larbi, has started with an interesting lesson on the radio, and we believe that it will be instrumental in reaching out to more people with the Gospel message.

Digital Library:
We are delighted to announce that we have set up a digital library on campus, spearheaded by Bro Stephen Ashcraft and Bro Samuel Sasu Ntim. This is a significant step towards enhancing studies and research at our college, and we believe that it will have a positive impact on our student's academic journey.

In conclusion, we thank God for a fruitful month and for the safe return of Bro Stephen Ashcraft. We believe that with His continued guidance and provision, we will achieve more significant milestones in the coming days.

April 2023 Operation Report

CLASSES IN PROGRESS

Since the resumption of classes in February 2023 under the Interim Administration, the school is progressively functioning well. Upon completion of Quarter Six (6) beginning from February 20, 2023 – May 14, 2023, all courses scheduled for the quarter were successfully completed. Ushering us into quarter Seven (7) beginning May 15, 2023.

FIRST GENERAL STAFF MEETING 

The interim Administration of the Bear Valley Bible Institute – Liberia called a General Staff Meeting on April 15, 2023 to discuss the way forward to a successful completion of the balance terms for the present batch (Batch Three). Highlighted in the meeting among other issues were recruitment plans for new students and campaign strategies to improve upon the previous one.

 STUDENTS FIELD TRIP (April 27 – 30)

Upon completion of quarter six (6) final examination, we took the students on a field trip to attend a four (4) days annual Lectureship of the Nimba County churches of Christ (Thursday April 27-Apil 30, 2023) to a town called Mieplay Yeisely, lower Nimba County about four (4) hours’ Drive from Ganta.

The field trip was meant to familiarize the students with the practical work of the church and acquaint them with other brethren of the Lord’s church in the county.   

Meanplay Yeezly congregation is managed by one of the batch three (3) students, Freeman Zlahn and was established in January 11, 2017 by the Late Bro. Harris M. Wonlah formar graduate of the Bear Valley Bible Institute (Batch One), Bro. Peter Karmie, minister of the Bahn congregation and Bro. Fester G. Lee minister of the Sanniquellie Central Church Of Christ and Dean of Students Bear Valley Bible Institute – Liberia.

The Fellowship was well attended, about 700 persons representing 23 congregations across the county including BVBI-L and the Campus Ministry with Forty-four (44) baptisms.

HARARE EXTENSION – JANUARY TO APRIL 2023 REPORT

INTRODUCTION
Our year opened with our weekend lessons on the 13th and 14th of January followed by 11th and 12th of February and March 18 and 19. From April 10 to 21 we had our April block in Gweru. The dedication of these men and women continue to be an inspiration to us, their local congregations, and even their families.
As always we give our sincere appreciation to Bear Valley Bible Institute International for the partnership. Thank you brothers Keith, Mark and Donnie for being actively involved in this work on behalf of our great institute.

MAJOR HIGHLIGHTS
1 . MARK REYNOLDS VISIT
On the 13th and 14th we hosted Mark Reynolds in Harare. He had the opportunity to meet with the September 2021 class. We are grateful for his visit.

During his visit brother Mark Reynolds noted our community challenge of water and he went on to source for us a 5000l tank from Healing Hands International. We are so grateful for his hand in the life of the community. On behalf of the church and community I also extend my sincere gratitude to Mark for helping us have this tank installed. The community has benefitted a lot.

2 . APRIL 2023 CLASSES
From the 10th to 21st of April 2023 Harare Extension School students were in Gweru. Classes were done from 07:30 to 17:30 hours daily, that is ten hours of learning daily. During this period personal work practicum was also done. Lovemore Manyanhaire was on the ground teaching and leading the students into the homes too.

3 . Taking Bear Valley Bible Institute To The Churches
On 29 April 2023 I had the opportunity to make a presentation at the Mashonaland West Province Annual Lectureship. More than three hundred people were in attendance. With the help of our former students and current ones we managed to distribute flyers containing BVBIZ information. The influence of BVBIZ continues to rise. All the four above and myself were invited to be speakers during that provincial lectureship.

CONCLUSION
My sincere appreciation to Bear Valley Bible Institute International for supporting this work and working with us as partners in this great work of equipping men and women for ministry. Our commitment remains strong as we continue focusing on the work of teaching and equipping men and women.

APRIL 2023 OPERATING REPORT

Several activities took place in the month of April that brought good progress to the preaching school in Tamale. It is necessary to report them for us to have a full view of school and the different things going on in the school.

STAFF QUARTERS

The three bedroom staff quarters that have been on construction for some time is now 99% completed. Everything has been done including the painting, wiring, and finishing work with the exception of the tile work and one of the toilet seats for one toilet facility. We wish to give God the glory this great being has done. We also praise God for the lives involved in getting it done.

VISITATION TO NEW CONGREGATION ESTABLISHED IN SUSU

One Brother James Bisong Legend embarked on a visitation journey to the new congregation that was established by the collaborative evangelistic efforts by the Accra and Tamale bear Valley Schools in the early part of this year. Brother Kwesi Owusu Odame who was left to support the congregation for some months has done great job in inspiring the congregants towards growth. As a matter of fact, the congregation is growing steadily. The joint campaign saw 27 souls brought into the Lord’s church (both new baptized and restored). By the end of April 2023, which was the end of Brother Odame’s stay with the congregation, the congregation had a consistent membership of 36 in number, with some permanent visitors. The congregation has also secured land for the construction of a building for worship. The congregation currently worships in a government classroom. We pray the Lord helps this young congregation to continually grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ. Amen!

ACADEMIC WORK

Two courses were taught in the month of April 2023 as the students resumed to full classes on the 17th of April, 2023. Old Testament 1 and the New Testament Church were taught successfully. Brother Albert Tamanja Malir taught the Old Testament 1 While Daniel Adjei Mensah taught the New Testament Church. Lectures continue smoothly to the glory of God.

SCHOOL GARDEN

We are determined to work hard to eliminate the financial burden of certain food crops in the feeding of the students. We are determined to eliminate food components like maize, groundnut and its past and some vegetables. We have already sewed groundnuts, with the hope of good rain so we can harvest them and sow some maize again. We pray the good Lord helps us in the journey.

KPALSI SOUTH CONGREGATION

The congregation in Kpalsi South has in its plans this year to host some number of public preaching in its efforts to preach Christ to the people in Tamale. Being an Islamic dominated community, it sometimes looks discouraging in embarking in evangelistic activities. Notwithstanding, evangelism remains the spirit of the church. Any congregation that fails to evangelize fails on its responsibilities. The Kpalsi South Congregation had some three days of successful public preaching at the Kpalsi last stop to mark the beginning of our evangelistic campaigns journey for the year 2023. It is our hope to have several of them this year forth. We praise that, in the month of April 2023, two souls were added to the Lord’s church.

We bless God for gradual processes being made towards the development of the school and the church in Tamale and Northern Ghana.

 INTRODUCTION

4-    Instructors’ meeting :

The desire of the Instructors is to see students to be able to teach the doctrine of Christ like Paul  recommended it to Timothy  “And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also” (2Timoty 2 : 2). That’s why these instructors always encourage these students to be faithful, regular, and brave to the end. Our instructors decided to give the best of themselves to help these students until the end. So, in the future we are going to have good preachers to help the work in the north.

5 -    DESCRIPTION OF CONGREGATIONAL ACTIVITIES WORSHIP AND EDIFICATION

 a-      Worship and edification :

We are very thankful of the existence of  Bear Valley bible school Institute. Students are sent to local congregations for worshiping and edification according to an educational program. The teaching in the local churches is titled : “The way to heaven “. With the help of these Students I developed a program of monitoring local churches to build spiritually strong churches in the future.  Sometimes, the preachers of Kpalime came to help  for door-to-door evangelism and edification with local churches. Two women were baptized in Lama and two men were also baptized in Kara town.

b-      Campaigns :                                                                                                                                    

We have organized one campaign in Landa in January and had 5 persons baptized. This campaign helped us to have a new congregation established there in Landa village.

c-      Evangelistic efforts :

We are continually pushing the local congregations to organize themselves to bring the gospel to the city of Kara and their local villages. During the quarter, we have been assembling in small groups and going house to house on a weekly basis. Due to the Muslim and denominational influence and good organizations with projects and the desire of the people to look towards material things, the work is not easy . However, we continue to proclaim the gospel and are experiencing slow growth in the local congregations. With the continual effort in the villages we were able to restore a church of Christ long implanted by some Missionaries in Soumdina Powayi village with 11 persons also baptized. We have also planted a congregation in Soumdina Pida with 2 baptized recently. The denominational doctrines program has helped to obtain this result too. We have a total of 20 persons baptized from January to March 2023.

2-    UPCOMING  PROGRAM

We have planned a door-to-door evangelization in Sanda-te village to help this  local congregation  grow numerically.. We are also going to help the local congregation in Lama in May. In addition to all this we plan to have the preachers seminar in June to help every preacher to be strong by serving Christ.

3-    RADIO  PROGRAM

We continue to teach the truth through Radio Kozah FM to help the population to make a decision for their salvation. Little appreciated the truth taught without making a decision to follow Christ while many engage in criticism. Through this issue we get back in touch with some with whom we discuss the truth. A very good opportunity for the conversion of some people.

4-    THE VISIT OF STEVEN IN  KARA

We thank God for the visit of our zelous Missionary Steven from March 30 to April 3,2023. During this visit a lot of reflections were made with Tamale Bear Valley Bible School Director, brother James and Kpalime Bear Valley Bible School Director, brother Cephace to help work in the north of Togo particularly and in the whole Togo in general. He wisely solved some problems that try to curb the evolution of work in the north and the whole Togo in general. We welcome the bravery and determination of the Missionary Steven who wants unity among the christians and preachers. His desire is to build a strong church of Christ in Togo. We shared the excellent moments with him in Kara as in Kpalime for the graduation of students. I benefited from his wise tips to build a good leadership. I like working with Steven, a very zeal who struggles a lot for salvation of lost souls in Africa. He inspires me a lot.

Lesotho, Maseru students describe the impact of the school on their lives

The period from January to April has been a blessing. Two BVBI International directors visited the school. 4 baptisms were recorded. Four more students have joined. The students testify about how the school has changed their lives.  

In January the school was blessed to host Brother Mark Reynolds. He had time to encourage and motivate the students. In March, Brother Keith Kasarjian visited the school and had a wonderful time with the students for two days. Both Mark and Keith had an opportunity to preach at Maseru church of Christ on a Sunday. According to Sesotho culture, every visitor is supposed to be given a Sesotho name. Mark was named Lerato (Love), after preaching a wonderful sermon on love. Keith was named Karabo (Answer) because it had been a long time since Lesotho prayed for a Bible School and God answered through Brother Keith. It was indeed a blessing to have them in Lesotho and the school hopes to host you again soon.

Four more students have joined the school. Palamang Litsie from Sehlabeng church of Christ, that’s about 20km from Maseru. Litsie is one of the leaders at Sehlabeng church. BVBIL students have been instrumental in the inception of this congregation, thus every Sunday two students are sent there to lead the services. Makhotla Mafatle and Ramatsitsi Khothatso are from Hamamathe church of Christ which is about 55 km from Maseru. Again this congregation was started by the efforts of BVBIL students and instructors. Matiisetso Tlhabi is from Maseru church. The school plans to train these men from Sehlabeng and Hamamathe so that they can be preachers of their respective congregations.

The school is jubilant to report that four souls have been saved during this period. 64 prospects have been engaged by the students, and over 200 WBS introductory lessons have been distributed. Denominational Doctrines, Bible Geography, and Personal Evangelism 3 were taught during this period. The book of Revelation was taught in December 2022, but because students need to fully understand it, the instructor decided to increase the course time to the first two weeks of January. Thus, from January to April, only 3 courses were taught.

The school instructor, Robert, was involved in a car accident, even though the car was badly damaged, thanks to God, Robert came out alive with just minor scratches.

It’s an inspiration to serve Him the way and effectively tell others about this amazing God.”

Likhama Leuta, “BVBIL lessons have taken me to another level in terms of spiritual growth. I am now more rooted in Christ than before. But what amazes me more is the feeling and desire to learn more that the school has arisen inside me. That is something I did not have before. Like at work, I have improved so much that positive things are happening for me. I thank God for this opportunity. I went to this school for God’s work but I get the bonus of positivity in my personal life.”

Mapule Kaeane, “The school has transformed my life a lot! It helped me to know the depth of reading the Bible and praying to God with a clear mind. Bear Valley helped me to discern the truth from lies or heresy. Whether I listen to or read religious articles, I can differentiate a true Christian or just a joker pushing his or her interest. I thank God and our teachers who work hard to see that we students are filled with truth and will never blame anyone but ourselves for not doing what is expected of us as Christians.

Thato Leuta, “The school has greatly impacted me in a positive and somehow negative way. POSITIVELY: I now appreciate a healthy Christian Life more. I appreciate what Jesus The Christ did for me on the cross. I have learned that there is more to scripture than just a written message. I now understand my obligation as a Christian (Great Commission). I now understand that God’s commands are not optional; love one another, forgive others, do good to others, etc. I now understand that the Bible has a lot in it. That it covers every aspect of our daily lives. I wish I could learn the Word of God till the end of time. NEGATIVELY: I have become too judgmental.  It saddens me a lot when; the “brothers” misinterpret the scriptures because they are hesitant to come to school. Church ladies see school as something for the brothers only. When Christians seem to be spiritually malnourished and when we have all the necessary nutrients at our disposal. The school is the best.”

Makhotla Mafatle, “Bear Valley Bible Institute has helped me to discern the Truth and the Error, it has fueled my devotion to God and passion for Sharing the Gospel to others, (the great commission). It has helped me to use the knowledge to Glorify God and help the lost. I developed passion, interest, and hunger to study and read the Bible and appreciate the holy Scriptures. It has helped me to defend my faith and spiritual growth. It has helped how to minister in a congregation. It has helped to put in practice the examples of Conversations in the book of Acts.”

Students return in Lilongwe

The Lord Adds to the Church

It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve watched it happen, there is still nothing better than seeing someone put on Christ in baptism.  We can’t help but rejoice because baptism means that one more soul can go to heaven one day if that person will stay faithful until death or until Jesus returns.

In Acts 2:38-47, we learn that when a person is baptized, they are added by the Lord to the church.  In the past month, two more souls have been added… Fani and Chisoni.  Both are serious about their walk with Christ, and we are checking in with them each week to see how they are growing. 

We have enjoyed using the river near the church building for baptisms during the rainy season.  We all walked together, singing as we went.  Everyone witnessed the baptisms:  the way to get “in Christ”.  Those walking along the road stopped to watch.  Then we sang more on the way back to the church building where often more instructions were offered for how to walk with Jesus.

Bonds Grow Stronger

The last time the students came back from a break the children were still a little shy but not this time!  There were hugs in abundance, sharing stories, and kids went right to the places they love the most… like the jungle gym.

As we stay synched with the calendar for the Malawian government schools, the students went home for a two-week break in April.

Although a short break, here are some of the things they were able to do…

• Give the Lord’s Supper lesson (here it is like another sermon)

• Encourage others to attend this Bear Valley Extension School and give applications

Some had family issues to sort out, work to do, and are looking forward to the 3-month break in July when they can serve more.

Meet The Isaac Nguluwe Family

Isaac was born in the Mzimba region of Malawi on June 6th, 1988. Later, he moved with his wife to the lakeshore area called Nkhata Bay. He stopped his education after he finished 7th grade.  Before coming to school, Isaac was a vegetable farmer as well as a chicken and pig farmer. 

Isaac married Lancaster 10 years ago, and they have 4 children:  Ryota is 9, Elick is 6, Desire is 3, and Melvice is 1.  Isaac is one of the most engaged fathers we have.  He fully supports his wife in parenting and is not afraid to address a child’s needs rather than sending them to their mother for assistance.  Isaac feels it is important to study his Bible with his family daily.  They both are amazing parents.

After school, they would like to return to the Nkhata Bay area and continue farming. However, Isaac is a devout evangelist. He wants to spend his spare time sharing what he has learned as well as teaching children and young adults. 

As a director, I can say without a doubt Isaac is one of the hardest working students we have. Although his education is the lowest, he turns in some of the best work.  English is his fourth language.  He had a bit of a slow start, but he is off to the races now.  By far, he has improved the most of any student we have. He is also the most passionate about evangelism.  If there is one who wants to study at church, he is the first one to volunteer to mentor.  All of this is not to mention his children are the most well-behaved children on campus.  Isaac is living proof a person does not need a high education to be a great worker for the Kingdom.

OPERATIONAL REPORT APRIL, 2023

1.     CLASSROOM WORK

The full- time students are on a one-month break. They have completed the required courses for the first term of the academic year. Examination has been conducted for all the completed courses. The examination was from 3rd – 7th April. It was followed by two weeks of short courses from 10th – 21st April. The short courses were the epistle of James and Personal evangelism.  In all, the students studied 8 courses in the just ended term.

We are also happy to report that we had a new student join us before the vacation. The break is from 21st April to 22nd May.

The part-time students are also progressing smoothly in their studies. They had a couple of examinations in the past month. Currently, they are studying the book of Jeremiah and the life of Christ – 4 (the gospel of John).

2.     PERSONAL EVANGELISM AND BAPTISM

To get the message of Christ across to every creature is our aim, so with this in mind our students are trained to cease every opportunity to share the gospel everywhere they go. There were a lot of evangelistic efforts in and outside the country by both current and past students of the school.

There was a mission trip to Kenya by four of our past students including the Principal of the school, Brother Joshua Aidoo. As part of their schedule in Kenya, they engaged in lectureships and personal evangelism. They baptized 13 souls and restored 20 backsliders.

10 more baptisms in Guinea

Dear Brethren,

We salute you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Here is the report of activity for April 2023 of Bear Valley Bible Institute of Gueckedou, Guinea.

Introduction

We are pleased to report to our donors all the activities carried out once again in anoher month, April which contributed to the blossoming of God's work in Gueckedou as well as in other areas of Guinea. See details of these under the subheadings that follow.

I-Teaching/ Class room:

It should be expected that there was no classroom teaching for the students in the regular two-year program during the month under review. This is because as indicated in our last report the students were on an evangelistic campaign which was followed by a 3 weeks break period. 

Il-Evangelism campaign

The first five days of the month were devoted to evangelism which was commenced in the previous month, but we were confronted with social constraints at the village of Yende Bawa where the Lord's Church is rapidly and amazing growing.

Nevertheless some other efforts were applied and the result of the different evangelistic sessions came up to 10 persons baptized for the remission of sins.

III-Radio program

The preaching team now led by brother Saa Robert KAMANO is still engagaged in a hard work to realize the broadcasting of the programs on the waves of 104.1 in frequency modulation. For this month, due to the demand of the listeners, the theme developed was on "the qualities of a good woman" and it has gone on well.

IV-Rapid Training 

Here is another strategy that contributes to the growth of servants or church leaders and the multiplication of local congregations for which they are trained. 

After realizing success of the first experiment last January, another team of 13 people were trained during the last two weeks of April 2023. This again is in the hope of planting new congregations where the trained leaders can serve and to strengthen older congregations.

The first result of this second batch of training was the obedience to the gospel of 2 persons who were yet unconverted among them.

It is also worth mentioning the presence of two brothers, Pokpa Kalivogui and Desire Sakouvogui from the city of Macenta through whom we will explore a new area.

The city center of Macenta and the village of Gbolonin are the two places at the top of the list for Evangelism that must follow the rapid training of churches leaders just completed .

V-Construction

Through this report we wish to convey to you the sentiments of satisfaction of the congregations receiving assistance for the construction of worship halls. There is a great amount of appreciation for this offer. We also appreciate this individual or persons for not differentiating between the Christians as God intended and reported by Paul in Galatians 3:27-28. 

For besides the congregations established by Bear Valley, other congregations across the country also benefit from this assistance in the construction and rental cost of buildings to worship our Lord like Kissidougou and Dabola.

VI-Personal Profile.

In this section we present our brother in Christ Saa Robert KAMANO.

He is 70 years old. He spent 28 years in the Protestant church also serving as treasurer, before being converted to the Church of Christ in 2010 after attending correspondence courses conducted by Brother Francis Musa.

Although he is advanced in age, he had enrolled and followed the training at the Bear Valley Bible Institute of Gueckedou from 2018-2020. With the love of saving lost souls and extending the kingdom of God, he established a congregation in Dento with the support of the Institute before the end of his training.

Because of his comprehension of the doctrine, dedication and ability, he was retained as a temporary teacher at the Institute .

He also leads the preaching team on the radio.

 May God grant him more healthy days to do his work.

VII-Suggestions and Recommendations

We ask all our donors, brothers and sisters from all parts of the world to pray for the unity of evangelists and members of the congregations in Guinea.

Conclusion

We thank God for all the good works we are doing under his control for the progress of the church in Guinea.

We thank Bear Valley International in general for their unconditional support and in particular our coordinator Steven Ashcraft for his good management in boosting God's work in Guinea.

Making progress in Lagos

SABO ONIBA/LAGOS ISLAND CENTERS REPORT February - April 2023.

INTRODUCTION: According the Adeolu Akinyemi in his article on Nature’s insight titled “If you want to go far, go together.” Pando is a massive colony of quaking aspen trees located in Utah, USA. What's unique about Pando is that it is one interconnected organism, with all of the trees sharing the same root system. This makes Pando one of the largest and oldest living organisms on earth, estimated to be around 80,000 years old. Bear Valley Bible Institute is linking brethren from different parts of the world together to study the word of God. This goal is making this institution one of the greatest in our generation. God bless you all for this effort. Work is going on in the two centers I coordinate. We had three new students in Lagos Island. Also the students who started the program there have seven courses to complete their 52 courses required to obtain their certificate.

ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES IN SABO-ONIBA/LAGOS ISLAND: In Sabo-Oniba, Bro Etim Mfon took the Book of Romans, Bro Emmanuel Odoh from Agege came to teach Major Prophets which is part of OT series while in April Bro Suliman Yusuf taught How We God the Bible. The students are excited developing themselves in the word of God by the effort of this college. In Lagos Island, Bro Ani Augustine took a class in African Traditional Religion, Bro Luka James lead in Leadership class while Femi Adewuyi guided them in Life of Christ 3 (Book of Luke). We are having three new students in the center as stated above.

CAMPAIGN PROGRAM/MARKET EVANGELISM: Our Market evangelism has resumed. Two students and a staff are presently involved in the project. This is a new idea that is fascinating. Many are in their stores and office in the market. They listen to our message as we do Open Air preaching most of the time. We hope to add World Bible School lessons once we get a teacher or congregation that will be marking the lessons. Bro Chad is working to make sure we are on this very soon.

Both centers were in Ipara close to Badagry last week Saturday. It was a great outing as the local congregation were excited seeing us come to help them reach out in their area. We are also considering visiting some congregations that do not have Preachers in our area on Sundays. Two students will be worshipping with these churches once a month. That will increase our effort to encourage these young congregations.

MARCH 2023 OPERATING REPORT

March 2023 was a blessed and a joyful month for us in Bear Valley Institute of Biblical Studies, Tamale, as it marks another milestone in the life of the Institute. It was a month of celebration for the immediate passed students and that of the current students and the instructors, coordinators and all who have interest in the development of the Lord’s Kingdom and the preachers’ training school in Northern Ghana.

VISITATION AND CHURCH STRENGTHERNING

We started the month with our usual visitation and church strengthening mission. In the month of March, Brother James Bisong Legend made a visitation journey to Kpinkpanyoung to participate in a preacher’s appreciation ceremony that was organized by the congregation. Brother James taught the adults Bible class as well as gave the sermon. This event took place on the 19th of March, 2023 which was the first day of the week. He taught a lesson entitled; “How the Christian should use their resources.” Brother James took his driving scripture from Psalm 24:1-2. The event was an inspiring one, which many brethren admitted that they were edified and needed to repent and redirect their resources towards the things of God as God is the owner of all things. Many of the brethren made different kinds of donations to support the efforts of their preacher and did also pledge to help him with his farming activities this year forth. An undisclosed amount of funds were also donated to support him. Brother Paul Laar is the preacher of the Kpinkpanyoung Church of Christ.

Brother James also did speak to the congregation to consider the possibility of supporting the preachers’ school in Tamale that produced Brother Paul, who has become a blessing to the church in Kpinkpanyoung and other congregations in the area. The church was so grateful to the school for its contribution to the Lord’s church and work in Northern Ghana.

7TH GRADUATION AND 8TH MATRICULATION CEREMONY

One of the greatest events that took place in the month of March 2023 was the 7th graduation ceremony of the school which happened on the 29th of March, 2023.  Brethren of the Lord’s churches across Northern Ghana came together to celebrate with brothers who in the past two years dedicated themselves to studying the word of God, so they could become vessels for the Lord’s use. It was a great event, as it drew both Christians and non-Christians together to witness and celebrate this joyful moment. People from all the four regions in the North did participate in it.

The director, Daniel Adjei Mensah gave the opening address to begin the ceremony. He recounted the establishment road map of the school into the period of the graduating students. He also recounted the challenges encountered in recruiting the graduating batch as well as the loss of one of the students. A one minute silence was observed in memory of him (Brother Philemon).

Seven students graduated successfully. Five of them qualified and received a Diploma certificate from Bear Valley Institute of Biblical Studies. Two of these students however, could not meet the pass mark, hence, were given a leadership or recognition certificate from the Tamale Institute of Biblical Studies.

Some great exemplary brethren who have laboured in the Lord’s field for several years were also present to grace the occasion. Brother Kojo Acquah Beenyi, the Coordinator for Bear Valley Schools across Ghana was present. He has been a great blessing for the work of the Lord in Ghana and beyond.  Brother Steven Aschraft, who has consistently and sacrificially stood out for the work of the Lord was also present. But for Brother Steven, we cannot phantom how the Lord’s would have been in Ghana and precisely, Northern Ghana. He is indeed a game changer for the Kingdom of God in Northern Ghana where we have great knowledge of. His presence was greatly needed and he did fill in the gap as usual. He gave a brief and a simple sermon to charge the graduates and the preachers as well as all who participated in this event.

Delivering his charge, Brother Steven stood on the counsel Paul gave to Timothy the preacher in II Timothy 2:1-3 and II Timothy 4:1-5 respectively to stir up brethren. He stated the need for men who go through training to not go through it in vain. One cannot become a preacher or an evangelist just by name. Stating his point, he pointed out that, being a preacher or an evangelist is as a result of the work you do. Therefore, a preacher is simply a person who preaches Christ, likewise an evangelist. The evangelist simply evangelizes and not just possesses the name. Further illustrating his point for clarity's sake, he stated, by a rhetorical question, whether one can be called a farmer if the person doesn’t farm or has a farm. Indeed, this was a lively and a seasoned charge that was needed and was presented at the right time to the right audience. We give God the glory for his life.

All permanent staff of the school were present, including some of the short course instructors. We had a great and unique event.

Declaration by graduates and the students who matriculated were led by Brother Kojo Acquah Beenyi (Ghana Coordinator). They affirmed by declaration that they will at all times preach and defend the doctrine of Christ Jesus, our Lord. Hallelujah.

Some awards were also given to deserving students by the school. Emmanuel Balefam claimed two prestigious awards; Best Student academic and Best Student overall. The best servant award went to Abraham Bambile, while the well behaved student award was received by Balaboni Npoanbeni Collins.

Demonstrating their appreciation to the school by the graduates, they presented some plastic chairs and two bags of maize to the school to support the feeding of the incoming batch of students. We praise the Lord for all that has happened in this special graduation and matriculation ceremony. We hope and pray things like this get better moving forward.

STEVEN AND JAMES TO TOGO

 The following day after the graduation, which was the 30th of March, with evangelism and souls being the driving force of all his actions, Brother Steven continues to create avenues in order to link up Bear Valley Schools and brethren together to collaborate to bring the Gospel to all men. With this in mind, Brother James Bisong Legend was taken to Togo, precisely, Kara, to have some healthy discussion with some of the brothers working with the schools in Togo for the purpose of coming up with ideas that will help promote church plantings between the border towns between Togo and Ghana.

One of the issues considered was also for him (James) to get some information on how the brethren in Togo do to convert denominational preachers into the church. Indeed, there was a very fruitful discussion and we are working on getting things in their rightful place. We thank the Lord for the life of Brother Steven and all who give a helping hand in his sacrificial efforts.

The first quarter of the academic year has ended successfully. Congratulations to all of us for the hard work put in to achieve this milestone. We can now look forward to the second quarter with renewed energy.

Academic Activities:
All courses were taught with diligence and attention to detail, and we were privileged to have Mr E. O. Larbi teach the family life short course as the last course of the quarter.

School Building Project:
I am pleased to announce that the land boundaries for our school building project have been demarcated. This is an exciting development for the Institute, and we eagerly anticipate the next stages of the project.

Radio Programme:
We have recently secured one hour of airtime on Top Radio Station (103.1fm), which is a fantastic opportunity for us to share the word of God with a wider audience and also to promote our college. However, we need more funds to sponsor the programme, and we hope to get help in any way you can to ensure the continued success of this initiative. This will promote evangelism and edification.

Graduation:
On 25th March, our school held a graduation ceremony which was a huge success. Congratulations to all the graduates and I wish them all the best in their future endeavours. We are grateful to Steven Ashcraft who was instrumental during the graduation. They vacated on the 25th of March, 2023 and will resume on the 9th of March, 2023 to start the school term. There will be a campaign on the 10th of April, 2023 and wish you pray for its successful

As we look ahead to the next quarter, let us continue to strive towards our goals as a college and work together to achieve success. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication.

Lectureship in Peru

It is a pleasure to write these lines to update interested brothers regarding the progress of BVBI-Peru. The two courses that have been taught in this bimester have been "Historical Books of the AT." and "The life of Jesus II" we are one class away from finishing both courses, the first course has been in charge of this server (Juan Abanto) and the second in charge of Abraham Alata, attendance at both courses has improved and we hope in The Lord keep doing it. In both courses we have had 9 students.

In addition to the classes taught at the institute, we had our V Annual Bible Conference on April 8 in the city of Ica, the two congregations in that city participated in the event, including a group of brothers from Lima, it was a beautiful experience for us. as instructors, to share these teachings regarding "A church that perseveres: Contrast between the challenges of the church of the I Century and that of the XXI century". The instructors for this conference were the brothers Abraham Alata, Andres Nunes, Alejandro Berrío (graduate student) and Juan Abanto. We had an attendance of about 60 people.

We were blessed to participate in the evangelistic activity of the church where the conference was held and for the glory of God two souls were added to the kingdom of Christ. It really was 3 days of a lot of activity, fellowship, instruction and work. We hope in the Lord to be promoters of many more similar events in the future in many other congregations, both in the capital and in the provinces of our country.
